Christian Support Group Community Group
This is a place for everyone who loves Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior (or those who are seeking Him), to come and discuss important issues in their lives and find support from fellow believers in regards to their faith and life. We uphold the Bible and living a Christ-like life, not as a way to heaven, but as a reflection of our love for God.
OLDBIKER
I have a lifelong friend that I basically grew up with. I knew his entire family. He is a Vietnam veteran. His older brother was killed in Vietnam. He and I used to drink together, when I was a biker years ago. He had just came home from Nam and I had been seriously injured in an Oilfield accident so, we spent a lot of time together.
I moved back to my home town 4 years ago. We rekindled out friendship and I would see him from time to time. About a year ago, he was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. Stage 4. I would go see him and we would visit when we would meet at the local mechanic shop. I became very burdened for his soul. I began to pray that somehow, I could reach him. Few of his family ever attended church. He was not raised in church at all and had little knowledge of spiritual things.
I went to see him last week and he had just spent 6 hours at the local cancer center and he was very tired and worn out. I told him I would be back in a few days and that I wanted to talk to him about the Lord. He said "Ok but, I don't know much about that".
Yesterday, I went back to see him and we talked about general things then, I got down to the business at hand. I told him about eternity, about sin and it's penalty. I told him about God's Plan and His provision for us to have forgiveness of our sin and about God's promise of Heaven. He listened very intently and the tears began to flow down his face. I took him by the hand and asked him if he would like to give his Heart and soul to Jesus and he said yes. I had him pray with me and his voice was so broken, that he was hard to hear but, he prayed and asked God to forgive him, to cleanse him, for Christ to be his savior and Lord. When he finished praying with me, he and I both had tears running down our faces. I looked into his face and his whole countenance had changed. He had a smile on his face and I asked him "how does that feel"? He smiled through the tears and said "that feels good"!!!!!!
I shared with him that I had been praying for him, for a long time and he said he knew I had been. He thanked me for everything and I assured him that if he needed me day or night, to call me and I would be there for him. He smiled and said "I know you will". We visited a while longer and I left.
I walked outside, stood by my Harley and, wept like a little child. I thanked God, for using someone like me, to reach others. I rode away with tears in my eyes but, with joy in my heart. God is still in the soul saving business.
