On the other hand, never forget the paradox that God calls us to be slaves to him! That is perfect slavery, doing the will of God.

"From Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God." Romans 1:1

"From Paul, a slave of God and apostle of Jesus Christ." Titus 1

Here is Paul's longest writing on this topic:

"16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or obedience resulting in righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves to sin, you obeyed from the heart that pattern of teaching you were entrusted to, 18 and having been freed from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness. 19 (I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh.) For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification. 20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free with regard to righteousness.

Lots to think about with these metaphors. And even more, because slavery is not a metaphor we use today, so we have to understand it second hand. But, it was used for a reason! So, we can learn and celebrate.

I personally want to be a slave to Jesus. Although at one time, I did not feel that way.
