Christian Support Group Community Group
This is a place for everyone who loves Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior (or those who are seeking Him), to come and discuss important issues in their lives and find support from fellow believers in regards to their faith and life. We uphold the Bible and living a Christ-like life, not as a way to heaven, but as a reflection of our love for God.

Good morning people,
So I am just wondering how people feel about their families?
This sounds like a weird question, but it is something that I struggle with.
I didn't grow up in the church. Now, that is all I do.
My mom, stepdad, and grandparents aren't crazy about God like I am.
This seems to create strains in our relationship as a family.
I don't really see them anymore. Not sure how I a feel about it.
Does anyone else struggle with these feelings?

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

Grew up in the church. My mom was devoted. My dad had issues with "Christians" who did not bear fruit.
I have learned not to go with judgement in mind. I am not there for others. I am there for ME. There are many scriptures which promote corporate worship. (worship with other like minded people)
Something else I have learned...you cannot find God at church. You need to bring Him with you. Invite him in.
I have been in churches where even the pastor did not invite Him in. These are more like country clubs. A place that a person can brag they attend.
My point...the experience at church is a private thing between you and God.
Don't worry about what others think.
But, never forget the fact you are to help bring others into the family of God. Invite them to attend. Shoe them that life is better with Jesus as a friend.
That's just my opinion.
My Mom has developed Alzheimer's and I keep her company because although we differ in our faith I must obey God 1st and honor her .
And my children are also far from God, although my husband is strong in his faith! His family is not saved, either, although his mother was.
So, never turn away from being on fire for God, to please family or friends. Rather, pray for them, gently share the gospel if God opens a door, and lead them to God. I prayed for my parents for 31 years before they got saved. I tried to be true to God, and honest and ethical in all I did, and it meant a lot to them.
So, please do not let some strain either push you away from God, nor let it stop you from being who you are in Christ. In the end, our relationship with God is all that matters in eternity. Plus, if God has given you this passion to know and serve him, follow it with all your heart.
My suggestion is to read the Bible daily. 3 chapters of the OT and 1 of the NT gets you through the Bible in a year. Some parts are hard, other parts will speak to you with the voice of God, and different parts on different readings. Never forget to pray. And not just for things, or people, but pray to know Christ better. And try and find a supportive church, who understand that you come from a non-Christian home. If a church won’t support you, then it is not the right one.
And so glad you found us and are posting here! Welcome and God bless!
