This is the sort of thing they pull over and over again. Rather annoying, I would say. I think I'm almost to the point where I find it all very silly, and just want to laugh about it rather than cry.

Good attitude CanadianMother. We all need to come to that. When our EC were young and misbehaved or threw temper tantrums, we didn't feed into their little bouts of attitude -- we either disciplined or ignored. If I ignored my children, it would make them mad but eventually they came around. That is what they are behaving like now..... little children who want their way.

The thing is, they have the right to control their own children for sure, but they don't have a right to make us feel small or unimportant. There's a difference.

Ishallwear, I'm sorry you had to go through such a ridiculous thing. Our EC (and their friends in many cases) are not living the way God intended. Please remember, again, it is not you and nothing you did wrong. This is what our EC want us to believe. We were not perfect but neither are they. This behavior is against the Word of God. Honoring parents is one of the top 10.

It's called disrespect, and they do it to us constantly, but when they get disrespected, look out!!! they won't stand for people to treat them that way, but they can treat us that way all along. I won't stand for it, so that's why there is NO CONTACT with me--they haven't grown up yet, and will probably take a very long time to grow up!

Thank you all for the encouragement. It's bad enough when your own children disrespect you but then in-laws come into the family and they think they can join in too.

This situation was just ludicrous but it still hurt me and made me turn it over and over again in mind to find some kind of understanding but gave up because it did and still does not make sense to me.

Are today's generation just plain stupid - and as you say, no respect for anyone but themselves and their own children. But some day perhaps their own children will give them a hard time although I would not wish this on anyone, I do hope they will have some problems with them that will make them catch a wake up to how they treated US all represented here.

I agree. I think it may take some hard times for our ED (our EC) like the prodigal son. That is usually how the we all get wake up calls. Sad but true.

Yes, I have spent many hours trying to understand all of this but there is no reason for nonsense. They just seem to try to make our lives as miserable as possible. In reacting to them we give them the feeling of empowerment which is wrong. I am not contacting nor trying to amends. The more ES sees that he irritates me the stronger he feels. I think we have to put ourselves and our own protection before any of their nonsense. Of course they know we want them but they use that against us. We are all here to encourage and support you and I know myself that this group is helping me so much. Turn to God for His peace and understanding. Hugs

Ishallwear purple, I deactivated my Facebook account, because I got hurt every time I saw my ED post wishing her brother Happy Birthday, etc. My birthday just past and it was ignored. My children seem like one big happy family without me. God help me to forgive. Unfortunately, everytime I want to play candy crush I have to reactivate it or I will loose my level. Thats when I see the posts and pictures. Lindajoan your words are so comforting. You are so right. I wonder if God being a jealous God feels hurt when athieists say he doesn't exist. After all he created them too. If he does then we have partaked in the same sufferings of God. For this I am proud to have suffered.

Weepingwillow, I simply took my children and others who are connected with them, off my Facebook. They were upset, but not as upset as I used to get when, like you, they would acknowledge other people and totally ignore me…or worse yet, post something derogatory. Now I have my own little Facebook circle and can enjoy it without having to feel put down. I explained to them why I was doing it so that they wouldn't misinterpret--but of course, they still were angry. At the end of the day, we all need to have the freedom to enjoy our own lives and live productively. God has us here for a purpose, and if we are always dragged down emotionally we cannot fulfil that purpose. Myself, I've been asked to speak in front of a group from my church in 2 weeks, and also at the ladies' Christmas dinner. The devil is not going to be impressed, but I will continue to live a victorious Christian life which brings glory to my Lord!

I was thinking go my post after exiting. Please do not think I'm a braggart…. I'm only here by the grace of God--literally. I have no speaking skill of my own--I need to draw solely on the words and strength from above. My purpose in telling you this is to encourage you that although the devil would love to use our children (the best method he can find) to stop us from doing God's will in us, we can get through this hurt and be useful and bring glory to God. Trust me, if I can do it, you all can too!

Yes Weeping, I too blocked EC on FB and so did my husband. We don't want to see things that hurt us.

Yes, I think our Lord is saddened by our putting Him in the background of our lives, too, weeping. We often push Him to the side. Believers do it as well as atheists. He so desires our fellowship.

Amen, Canadian. PTL that He is using you to help others. That is our calling after we go through trials.
