Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
Visit with estranged son and family
Norske1
Our ES, his wife and 4-yr old daughter came yesterday, stayed for supper and were here about 4 hours. It was a nice visit. When my DH and ES went downstairs it gave me and DIL a chance to visit. I was careful. She wants no reconnection with her bio mom. Her version of her first 15 years and birth mom's version are a bit different and since I wasn't there, I don't know what is real and what is fabricated. Maybe a little of both on both sides. I suggested she visit with her and see if there is any resolve but that would be her decision.
She said that every year when I would send my ES a b'day card, she would suggest that he call us but he wouldn't.
I do believe the estrangement was part our son and part her. Our son wanted to please her and when I didn't jump to all of their demands and lack of spending time with us because it was all about her family, I bauked. I believe they thought that the meaner they would treat me, the more apt I would be to give them the $$ they wanted. They were young and immature.
Our little GD is adorable. She is 4, weighs only 30# and is a beautiful mix of them both. I do feel bad that our son has not continued his walk with Jesus. When I brought out some things for her to play with and create a picture, she thought the cross was a letter "T". I didn't say anything; too soon. I will pray that our son returns to Christ and brings his family along.
When they left, our son hugged me and said he would like DH and me to come to their home for dinner in a couple of weeks. He said he loves us and I believe him. I did notice that it was apparent to him when we talked about other family members, that he has missed 7 years that he will never get back. New babies born to his cousins, etc.
God is definitely working in this and I am also learning a lot about waiting on Him, walking with Him, and thanking Him for all his blessings. Now prayers are for my DH's healing, both from the femur surgery and from the cancer.

savedbyhim45 - honestly, it took me about 5 years and constant prayer before my anger subsided and God helped me to forgive.

If it took you five years, then I'm probably doing okay, if not pretty good.

How wonderful~~~ So happy for you and I'll admit, jealous! My birthday came and went with NO acknowledgement from either of my ED's. I didn't expect it, but I'm getting discouraged as of late. Praying harder is in order!
