Well dil is back in town so heard nothing from son during Christmas. None of my husband's children came to visit either. It is depressing to see all the gifts still under the Christmas tree.

How did things go with your ES while your DIL was away? It is clear that she is ruling the situation. We need to pray for wisdom from God on how to guard our hearts.

savory..... when that happened at my house, when ES and his wife didn't come, I waited until Jan. 6, and then I returned the presents. I said that if they didn't care enough about me and DH to come to our home for their presents, they didn't deserve any and I stood firm. DH and returned the gifts, took the money and went out to dinner and put the balance in the bank.

Norske, Did your son and family get to see you over Christmas?

Yes. Adam came around 2 on Christmas Eve and stayed until today. Headed home after church and after helping me take down the tree.

Estranged son and his family came on Christmas Eve at 5 PM and left at 7:30 PM. They were very nice. We ate dinner, GD opened her presents (ES asked that I buy he and his wife no presents so I didn't). When I said I wanted to pray before we ate, my son had to show his daughter how to fold her hands (isn't that sad?). I teared up so had to keep the prayer short. Didn't want to cry in front of GD.

I guess DIL has been up since 4 AM and worked until 2:30 so in her defense, she was tired after a long day. They live about an hour from me.

Christmas Day my sister's family came and we had a great day. More friends stopped by on Saturday.

I made it through the first Christmas holiday without my DH. I am glad it is over. DH was definitely here in spirit. Thanks for asking about my holiday.

I am so thankful that you were surrounded by a lot of love that you deserve. How wonderful that your son and family came on Christmas Eve. What a blessing that you can lead your gd to pray.
