CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
This morning I listened to a local pastor of a church I'm thinking of visiting.
He said the night Jesus walked on the water He had sent the disciples out into a storm alone on purpose! How did I ever miss that part of the story? This test was even harder because this time He wasn't even asleep in the boat.
They were so fearful they didn't even recognize Him anymore and thought He was a ghost.
I needed that because I felt forgotten.
This whole storm seems so ungodly.
I made up my mind that now is not the time to quit rowing, no matter how big the waves are.
All storms eventually pass.
Thank you for your encouragement.
That promise you speak of forgottenmomma I have been told actually refers to "temptation" and not suffering at all! This is why our hearts are broken. We are only human, after all. It does test the sanity, that's certain. You sometimes feel as if you are in a living nightmare. How can this have happened? We never saw it coming - we imagined we would always, always remain close as families should be and this would never, ever happen to us - never. It fills you with such disbelief that this could actually be taking place - at least this is where I am now.
But at the end of it if we can say we have come through it and we still love God, we will be overcomers.
Some day and I pray it is sooner rather than later, God IS going to reunite us with our loved ones again. I am absolutely convinced of this.
forgottenmom- Happy 30th Anniversary to you and your DH. That is a blessing.
Ishallwear- I recently saw Rick Warren and his wife's testimony on losing their son through suicide. They were asked if they lost their faith or questioned their faith in God. Rick said his faith in God was never lost but that he did question God's plan. Estrangement is so against the way of God and it is sin. God is love and healing and puts a high priority on family. The enemy tears down and destroys all that is good. Let's pray that the Lord will have His way in the hearts of our EC. In the case of our ED it may take her learning the hard way (prodigal). God bless each of us as we trust Jesus alone during these difficult times.
