CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
I understand wanting to see your gs. Gc are wonderful! All we can do is pray. I have a feeling they'll reach out eventually even for the reason they don't have anyone else to help it sounds like
I hesitate a little to send this link because as far as I know they are not Christian based, although I know there are some wonderful Christians who do get support from them as well as support them.
One of their consultants is Joshua Coleman, of which I am not a fan because he puts the onus on the parents to 'fix' something that is not within their power to 'fix.'
I have emailed the woman in charge at AGA. They are eager to help grandparents us whatever means necessary to gain access to the grandchildren. In my opinion though, it can be (isn't always), but can be a slipperly slope.
I understand where you are at edr and my heart goes out to you.
Personally, I don't believe the courts should be involved in giving grandparents 'legal' rights per se. It is tough enough, IMO, when parents divorce and have to fight for custody ... the child is in the middle and it is often a tug of war, but something that cannot always be avoided. They are the parents and are responsible for their children, so they do what they must do legally.
In the area of grandparents fighting for legal rights, I personally don't believe this whole layer of tug and pull needs to be opened up and fought out in the courts, but that's just my own thoughts about it.
I don't know all about AGA, but it is a resource that some find comfort in.
EDR: You might like AGA, or not .. I know you can email them, and they will give you direct feedback via email and they will also add you to their mailing list and they send out newsletters and updates. For those who want to pursue their GC at all costs, they probably are the ones who have all the statistics about grandparent rights in your state, and what if anything you can do. They also offer real in person support groups throughout the states.
I do not want my gc tossed about like so many children today due to divorces, etc. To me that is not healthy in anyway. I will trust in God that he will work it out and in time the truth will be known. I have faith that during this time of absence, my gc will not forget me because they only have happy memories of what we shared together.
I believe it is our job to do what is possible ... and then to leave the impossible to God.
