I know that must have been devastating to think you were going to see gs and then have them back out at the last minute. That was so nice what you did for your gs and it is terrible they don't appreciate it. Congratulations on you anniversary. I will be dreading the yearly Mother's Day again this year.

I think all special days are hard and it seems like they come in groups! I am so sorry you didn't get to see you gs. It is unthinkable to us how our EC's can treat us this way. I think it is important for us to realize the depth of this grief and how hard it truly is. Praying that you feel a peace that only God can give edr!

To my good friends,thank you for the support. It seems like i have known all of you all my life such great friends here.

All I can say is our children are so very cruel. I know my son and his wife are. I had to find out from mutual friends they are now expecting their third child. I have not even seen the second one. I haven't even bothered telling any of my close friends or family members. Why bother? They are dead to us and us to them. As my husband said, really it isn't even relevant anymore. They could be like the Duggars and have 19 kids for all it matters. I still pray for all of them and that God will soften their hearts but until that happens I just have to try to forget about it. The last time I reached out I unleashed a fury of wrath that was so unsettling and horrible I never wish to experience it again. And I was warned to never contact them or "I would be sorry"...I am guessing that qualifies as a threat.

Poodlegirl, I agree with you. I have to learn to live as if she were dead. Right now my prayer is that God would give us some peace and that she would leave us alone. Of course, in my heart I would love for her to come home but I can't live there because then I can't live at all! It is hard to balance hope and still move on! That was a threat...I am so sorry. It seems that any contact causes more pain!

I am sorry for the continue pain that your ES and DIL continue in. The most we can do is pray for God to change their hearts. With God's help we can live each day being thankful that we have the Lord. Estrangement is difficult. What would we do without the Lord. He is always faithful.

I miss my gs so much,if son/dil dont wish us to be in there life that is there choice,but my sweet gs use to visit weekly and they just ripped us from him,and him from us.And i have to let go and let God and i do,but sometimes the emotions overcome me,i get so mad i could spit nails,they dont have to take it out on a innocent baby.I pray God will soften there heart,but honest i dont think they have one.

We have to stay strong in the Lord although it isn't easy. Who else can deliver us from this? The word perseverance comes to mind. God wants us to persevere. Like the woman with the issue of blood for so many years. Finally, her perseverance paid off and was healed. Sometimes we get discouraged and wonder if praying is doing any good. The Bible says he hears our prayers whether we feel like he is or not. Just keep praying. Praying is a sign of your faith and faith is what moves God. If you don't give up, he won't give up. In his time, we will reap the benefits of our prayers.
I am going through the same thing. I haven't seen my g.d in 7 months . Before, she was allowed to come stay with me almost every w/e and sometimes stayed for 3 or 4 nights at a time. I miss her so much, but past mistakes of trying to do things on my own has caused me to sit tight and wait on God this time. I even have 2 gc I haven't even met. Does that bother me? Definitely, but I can't change someone who doesn't want to change. Only God can soften the hardhearted. I feel I am missing so much that can't be made up, but I believe the best is yet to come. Sounds like a contraindication, but I am standing on his word . I try so hard to turn a negative thought into positive. I believe that is what God wants. He will turn all our brokenness into something beautiful again.


You are not alone and we all are suffering. Good news is Jesus knows our every burden and care. The steps of the righteous is directed by God. There is a reason for what we are going through. Take this time to draw closer to God as he will draw closer to you. GOD BLESS YOU!

I was watching tv last night,my cell alerted me for a text my heart dropped,grabbed my glasses and it was dil sending me video,pictures showin gs with my cards,clothing,easter basket yelling " im going to visit,how bout that"his exact words and so happy when he was saying it.What do ido? I am afraid sound silly?I did not respond i dont trust them,my son told me we were blocked from her phone,and son didnt send the pictures,i feel she wants something,and i dont want to contact son maybe he doesnt know dil sent it,and do not no problems between them on my account was i right, i think i will wait for son to contact us,he said when he gets ready,not her.But oh it was a blessing to see my baby made me want him more.So thankful for pictures.

edr, It certainly sounds like a good sign. Pray and see how you feel led of the Lord to respond. A way of doing it would be to respond by directing it to your gs by simply saying that you would love to see him and miss him. That is certainly true and loving.

You are being treated very cruelly, and that is on your ec. This adult child estrangement is really something else, and I share your pain as we wrestle with it everyday. Lord increase our faith as we wait. I do agree that God is at work. In these situations and in our hearts. May God bless you.

I am so thankful to have all of you to give me such great hope,support i have been dealing with my sons coming and going in my life and now it has affected me mentally. I go to therapy and doctor every 3 months,they diagnosed me as GAD {general anxiety disorder}.I constantly worry about everything,i worry about what people think,feeling guilty if i dont visit my sister but she never visits so we have to travel my dh is not well,i feel i have tried to buy my way into there life and helped so much it has hurt.There is no medicine that will take the situation away i take a antidepressant,xanax low dose i have to learn to work with my emotions and ask God to help,and with all of you i will get through it.
