Did he give a reason at least? Can you or DH let him know how it made you feel? I am sorry you went through this. When their children grow they will get it.

it is not just the young ones but mostly them....it seems our whole society does not keep its word anymore about anything. it is very sad indeed...

I agree with forloveofmom. This generation of young people want no accountability it any aspect of their lives. It's the I-generation. I'm sorry for your hurt, but maybe it was a legitimate reason he couldn't come. Try not to think the worst. I know estrangement makes your mind go places it wouldn't have before all this.

That was so sad....I am sorry for you too sending hugs. I agree this world is all so desensitized and crazy. Just wish Jesus would return soon. Yes...lindajoan one day all these people's eyes will be opened and then for sure they will get it.

Nothing shocks me anymore I know it's negative but somehow I expect others to let me down.. Eventually! I find people generally selfish.

A month ago, I tried to get together for dinner or lunch with DD28 (my only DD who lives here) and she blew me off both times...saying she could probably meet, then I never heard from her. I texted her telling her how little time it takes to text someone just to let them know you can't make it regardless of the reason. She told ME to calm down, not take it personally and to find other things to do...that she has a busy life. Whatev. I told her FINE...she could contact ME when she had time to get together. Haven't heard from her in a month (no big surprise there) and haven't seen her since August. I don't take it personally since she does this to everyone in her family. My older 2 daughters only see her when they come home otherwise never hear from her and they don't bother even trying to contact her. Oh, when I invited her to go away for a weekend with me and another daughter, she jumped all over that. Of course! Mom was paying! ugh

startingover-----why do you call her your "DD" when she treats you with so little respect or kindness ??? You should not have to give her week-ends away to have a relationship with her. Don't settle for this, it will just drag you down it is not worth it.

A person only thinks the worst when they are let down over and over and over....there becomes no reason to expect anything more when these EC write out the future with us in plain sight. It may sound harsh but sometimes at this point it is time then to walk away for our own peace and happiness.
