I got to see my grandson last night! It's been 2 months, & he's grown so much. He ran right up to me & hugged & kissed me, just like in my dreams. Thank you God! His mother (my son's girlfriend) was very stand offish. Avery ate dinner with us, & he absolutely adores his "papa", my husband. He is SO precious. I am very thankful I got to see him, but I fear what will happen as soon as I don't do something they want me to. Niether one of them understands how sick I've been, they don't want to hear it.
Here's why I feel bad: I feel my heart dying & becoming cold. I pray against it all the time. I've been hurt SO many times in my life, it's beginning to kill my heart. I have always been sensitive, caring, loving & forgiving. I DO NOT like what is happening to my heart. My husband has probably hurt me more than anyone. I have always been forgiving & patient, but I am starting to stick up for myself & let him know how badly he has hurt me. He expects me to just "get over it", like I have for the past 23 years. I had to explain to him it's going to take a long time for me to trust him again, but that our relationship is damaged. Once to kill someones trust, it's never quite the same. I of course, blame him largely for our youngest sons alcohol problem. The resentment goes away for a few days, then comes back with a vengeance. I am not a vengeful person, so when I feel that resentment coming on, I just stay away from him, he knows why. I know he feels bad for the influence he had on our son, but it's too little, too late. I pray to God that he can heal my wounded, broken heart. I know it will take time. Sorry to rant on, but I had to find out who else has felt this way. Thanks.

ES texted me to see if they should come on Sat. morning and leave early enough to get GD home for nap or have her nap first and come around 3. I said it was completely up to them; whatever worked the best for them. (Not sure why she couldn't nap here or in the ride up, but whatever).
It is such a challenge with these estranged adult children.

My husband says he quit drinking 2 weeks ago...we've been down this road before, so we will see how long that lasts. I know I should have more faith in my husband, but it's difficult after 23 years of living with an alcoholic.
