Wow......read Boundaries by Cloud and Townsend. I'm sorry but that was rude, selfish and disrespectful... . I would keep my distance, the door open, but love from a distance. I am so sorry....

I'm praying carolyn that The Lord will give you peace about the hurtful words your daughter spoke to you. We all understand your pain. My ED speaks very poorly about me to everyone also. Fortunately, she recently moved several states away, and I no longer have to endure the hateful words.

. I just wanted to share this because I know the only way to get through 'nastiness' like this is just to keep giving those 'offenses' to Jesus. Let the 'bad behavior' be between your daughter and God ... and step aside and let those offenses go by. This isn't about you ... let it be between her and God. Our kids answer to God for their own behavior ... let that be.
It's just the only way I personally know how to get through the hard days and hurtful words and offenses ..... Let go and let God.... Personally, I don't know what else works!

This verse and this little commentary really helped me focus when it comes to handling those offenses our EC's like to hurl our way....

I am so sorry. you do not have to subject yourself to such insults from your own family. your ED will have to answer to God one day for the disrespect she has shown her parent and for the hurt she has caused. Please take care of yourself.

Carolyn, I'm sorry you went through this abusive behavior from your ED. I'm sure your DH saw through her comments. When someone makes hurtful comment like that they are usually showing anger and often more angry at themselves than anyone.

We can not change our EC but we can pray that God will change them. Is your ED married?

First off...why are you spending time with anyone like that?? For sure walk away from her....she is totally a brat that does not deserve any of your time. Love the sinner but hate the sin.....as hard as it was for me to accept this saying it is true...."If someone treats you like they don't care, believe them because they don't"

At first we laughed because it was so ridiculous but then I've been just thinking about it and can't get it out of my mind. You're right Bella, I would never spend time with another person who treated me this way so why should I take it because she's my daughter. She is married and had a baby who we haven't seen. The meeting is because we were sending presents to the baby and she wanted to know why. About 10 minutes into the meeting, we realized that there was jealousy because we stopped contacting her pursuant to her request. We don't want our granddaughter to think we don't think about her. We'll just keep praying for her and hope that someday our granddaughter will want to get to know us.

Never stop praying. God is the God of the impossible.

Sorry for what you are going through, carolynf1. Why do people think it is ok to put others down? I'll never understand what it is they gain from doing this. As someone else commented, I hope your husband stood up for you.

agrand, I have a whole phone full of songs like that! Started collecting them when I was going through my first ordeal with my ac. Wide Awake by Katie Perry is good too! Just aren't a lot of danceable Christian songs out there! Plus you can sing and dance to these songs while your angry and by the time you finish, you aren't angry any more and are in a lot better mood!

My step-dad was really awful to me but I NEVER, EVER spoke to him the way some of you have been spoken to! And I wasn't even a Christian nor was he and I wasn't particularly afraid of him either so that wasn't a deterrent! It is absolutely appalling! They are really going to have a shock if any of their own children speak to THEM in that manner! Perhaps, when it happens, they will be convicted of their own sin and have an opportunity to come to you and ask your forgiveness.
