On Aug. 4 my GD, whom I have never met, is going to be 3. A friend suggested I send her a gift card to Toys R Us. I have never sent her anything for her birthday. But I'm afraid a gift card they (DIL) will re-gift to one of their friends' children, for sure.
Remember how I gave DIL a $50 gift card to a spa on her b'day, and found out that she saved it and re-gifted it to her step mom on her b'day and step mom used it a few days later. I sent step mom a note and told her I found out from the spa that she used the gift card I gave DIL the year before. Never heard back from her. It was easy to check the number on the card.
If anything it would be a check that ES would have to cash. But I haven't felt any strong feeling that I should do that; only a suggestion from a friend.

I usually don't comment much, but what you said about regifting your gifts reminded me of why I like to give personalized gifts. This site http://ClassicReads.net has so many sweet books that you can have your grandchild's name as a part of the story. Its really a beautiful gift, and its personalized and hard to regift.
