CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
You call it resistance, but I called it "discouragement, disillusionment, and being burnt out," but still I also believe along with the others that it is really the enemy trying to find a broken place into our soul so that he can torment us and eventually make us quit praying for our EC and ourselves and reading the Word.
Yet I can tell you that each time I hit the wall and could not go another moment hoping with no encouragement, listening to the deafening silence coming back to me from where my EC and GC should have been and when I cried out to God and said this is it, I am tempted above what I was able to bear with all of this, as the following verse states:
1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Each time, God would do something miraculous that only God could have done for DH and I and I would again have renewed faith and hope that if I did not "faint" that someday I would reap the seeds of my prayers....
This past summer I had gotten down again....really down as in further than ever before, disillusioned with God and life in general to the point where I cried out and told God that I could not take it anymore and was ready to really throw in the towel this time in regard to believing in prayers much less that DH and I would ever get past the afflictions that have plagued us for 40 years! And the next thing I knew, DH got the best job he's ever had! And it really felt like finally we'd turned a corner, little breaks and favor started happening to us over the next weeks until just a week ago my DIL contacted us for the first time since 2008.
My point is this....God knows when we've reached the wall in our hearts and minds and His word promises that when we get to that point, He will provide a way of escape....and so far God has not failed to this for me yet.
Norske, my heart is rejoicing to find you here with us tonight!! I am encouraged both for you and by you! For there is no answer that makes sense in the loss of your DH, yet here you are with us....that's the grace of God...He's not left you alone, but brought you here to be an encouragement to all of us!! Death when you are a Christian is one of those bittersweet places...oh the joy of the one with his Savior tonight and so must we feel joy for him, but oh the sadness and loss of those left behind without the one loved and missed!
We do not always understand God's ways and His timing but you and your DH had a strong bond of faith. That bond can never be broken. The Lord will return and the reunion with our loved ones will be amazing.
Until then, I know God will be close. You are covered in prayer. We love and need you. You will be a blessing to many.
Read God On Mute. I got it from the public library. They got it from a Christian college. Go to the helps desk and ask about out of library loans.
