CHRISTIAN PARENTS of ESTRANGED ADULT CHILDREN Community Group
Estrangement makes it difficult to talk about with family, friends, neighbors and church members. Christians are NOT immune to broken families. Talk about your experiences with those who know how you feel and get positive support through your Christian faith...."In these last days difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...disobedient to parents,...
But - will be travelling so am going to post a couple days in advance. If you, like me, can't wait and read and pray ahead, I always go back. Never hurts to pray more than once the same prayer.
FEB. 8: Lord Jesus, reveal to my son that lasting refreshment and satisfaction can only be found in You. In You he will find an abundant life. Jn. 4:10, 10:10; Ps. 1:3
FEB 9: Lead my son to friends who will graciously point him to You. Cause him to be attracted to those who are attracted to You. Scatter like chaff in the wind any friends who will bring him harm. Give him the courage to please You, not man. Prov. 13:20; Gal. 1:10
FEB 10: Produce in my son a humble spirit that is yielded to You. Teach him how to live in You, and show him that apart from You he can do nothing. Jas. 4:10; Ro. 6;13; Jn 15:5
FEB. 11: Lord, reveal to my son how valuable and significant his life is. Give him a vision for his purpose in the world, and show him the possibilities for his future. Through You, he can do all things. Is. 43:7; Jer. 29:11; Phil. 4:13
Disobeying the commandment of honoring parents is sin. I am not certain how our EC (who truly know the Lord) rationalize this in their own hearts and souls. I think they must have somehow twisted truth around to make it look like it ok or they try not to think about it.
We must pray that God as only He can will convict their hearts and change them. I do not know what it will take in the situation with our ED. I seem to feel it will take reaching some kind of a bottom. She turned her back on all family when leaving home. God please work in our EC lives. Please bring them back to your truth in your way.
As I read ahead for tomorrow, Feb. 11, I thought of my other son. He loves the Lord and I know he is waiting to have God reveal to him the purpose for his life. He has a good job but not one he really wants forever; he is patiently waiting for a Christian woman to be part of his life and he is searching for the strength to go back to college. Please pray for him too.
While I am always praying for our estranged adult children, I think we also need to storm the gates of Heaven with prayers for our loving children who might be searching for their place and try to understand what God's plans are for them.
Good post Norske!
FEB 13: Thank You for offering hope and comfort to my son. Thank you for restoring the years the locusts have eaten and bestowing on my son a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of despair. Is. 57:18; Joel 2:25; Is. 61:3
FEB 14: Teach my son that following You is not about following rules. Show hm that what You long for is a genuine relationship with him. Ro 6:14; Jer 9:24; Phil 3:8, 10
FEB 15: Lord, cause my son to grow up in You, maturing into an oak of rightousness for the display of your splendor. Help turn to grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with You and with man. Eph 4:15; Is 61:3; Luke 2:52
Tomorrow's prayer is something I would like to share with my ES.
FEB 17: Teach my son to walk by faith. Help him to see beyond his circumstances and trust You with every part of his life. 2 Cor. 5:7; Heb. 11:1; Prov. 3:5-6
FEB 18: Impress on my son the need to protect his mind, guarding its purity through the choices he makes about what he looks at, listens to, and thinks about. Phil. 4:8; 2 Cor. 10:5
FEB 19: Lord, in this fast-pasted world of instant gratification, plant in m son the perseverance he needs to succeed. Cause him to be still and wait patiently before You. Help him to rest in Your power. Establish the work of his hands. Ps. 37:7; Heb. 1:1-3; Ps. 90:17
FEB 20: Turn my son's focus away from himself and onto You. May he allow Your power to flow through him to others. Teach him to love others as himself. Phil. :4; Cor. 4:7; Mt :39
FEB 21: Cause my son to love You with all his heart, soul and mind. May he live all his days in love with and rejoicing in You. Mt 2:37; Ps 27:4; Phil 4:4
Feb. 17 and Feb. 19 really touch me for my son. Our EC are in such a "need it now" world.
