After seeing the post about spiritual attacks, I thought I'd open a discussion on the other side of the coin and talk about spiritual gifts.
Lately this is on my mind because I went to a new church. It's more modern because it's come as you are, but it's also very Baptist. Don't get me wrong, Baptists are nice, but they seem to find something iffy about the gift of tongue which, now don't laugh, I do have. It makes me nervous to utter under my breath during prayer.
I was wondering if any of you still believe in the spiritual gifts? Not just the big ones listed in the new testament, but the more modern ones which are simply gifts you already have that you can use through the church, like music or cooking or event planning.
I don't want to be boastful, because being boastful made me lose it for a while, but as stated I do have the gift of tongue. I think I also have this odd kind of gift where I find Biblical lessons in modern media like movies and TV shows. Pretty fluffy, but it entertained the teens during the youth ministry years.

But Jesus says He is the same Yesterday , Today and Tomorrow.
Gifts were manifest in the first century church and throughout most of the churches history.
It's only in more modern times, has the Church turned it's back on the Gifts Of The Spirit
And note....in most 3rd World countries, Gifts Of The Spirit flow and mirecles happen ....because those 3rd World people DEPEND on Jesus in a way we can only imagine .
So....back to your question
YES...Jesus manifests HIS Gifts to the church.
Your Gift of tongues is a blessing ! You sing and utter unto the Lord Jesus the language of Angels !
I have the Gift of Discernment . Or sometimes the Gift of Knowledge
Again, as you say, we do not boast...we glorify Jesus that HE has seen fiit to bless us ...and therefore uplift and bless HIS church with our Gifts
For the Gifts are not given to puff ourselves up, but to Glorify Jesus or to bring knowledge to HIS church
To be honest, I welcome all gifts. Not only do they strengthen our church inside and out, but I have seen some instances of miracles happening through the gifts. Why would some churches ignore the benefits of gifts, and what is the reward in doing so?
I believe we are entering into the Last Days.
Where many will become faint hearted .
As to why some churches accept the Gifts from Jesus ?
I don't know.
But scripture tells us in the last days , many will fall away from the church.
I will not speculate , but in my belief, drawing as close to Jesus as we can, will only draw us safely into HIS arms
