Random luck or gift from god?

There is a customer I have that I talk to on a ongoing bases . He seems like a nice man , about my age , a positive person ,, family man ,,, he loved to fish.

He invited me to go ice fishing last weekend ,,, I told him no thanks ,, was not into lookin into a little hole to see if a fish was lookin back . Told him the only ice I will be lookin at will be the the ice my son will be skating on .

Turns out ,,, on his weekend trip ,,, he bought a lottery ticket ,,,, he won a million dollars ,,,, Hmmmmmmmm ,,, good things do happen afterall .

The question in my mind is ,,, was it just random luck ,,or a gift from god ? Another funny thing ,,,,, his name ,,,,, its Christian,,,,, hmmmmm

i believe that God blesses us not luck! He knows what is going to happen to us before we know. He makes our path and he understands that secular people think it is just luck. I believe in Christ it is blessings!

It could have been a curse from Satan! 95% of the people who win huge sums say 5 years later that it ruined their lives!

It's like the man that went ice fishing, and he caught the big one. Well, at least he hooked it, and called his friend over to help him pull it up. Bad luck and good luck mixed with thin ice equals disaster!

What a story! I don't blame you for preferring hockey over ice fishing. But the big bucks? Not sure most people would know how to handle it. I've heard many Christians beg God to let them win the lottery so they could give a BIG "tithe" to God. Sounds like bribery. Or blackmail.

And I'm with you on the luck thing, BrendyGurl. God blesses us for obedience. Luck and lucky are simply not found in the Bible. I just did a word search check.

I agree with mebuescher, there is no such thing as luck. The sun shines on the just and the unjust. Whether the million dollars is a gift from God? Who knows. Depends on what the fellow does with it I suppose. Having money is not evil. The LOVE of money is evil whether it's $25.00 or $25 mil.
Some of the people who inherit money never worked for it either. Their fortunes are made by all the people who worked before them. So......

After I first saw this post, I saw on tv that over 50% of the people who win big in the lottery file bankruptcy within 5 years. When you're looking for money to solve your problems, you never have enough.

I read once ( a coincidence : is God way of performing a miracle and choosing to stay anonymous ) That isn't bible, just saying. Luck is odd's , maybe:)

Thanks for all the interesting replies , I'm leaning towards gift from god ,,,, now ,,,its how we use the gift ,,, do we use it for gods good ? I think that is the key.

The best thing to do with a million dollars is put it away for the future. These days a million is not that much money.
