You sound very dedicated Penguin Peru! My ministry has been to be a hands on mom to my special needs son & Bipolar husband. Other than that I feel prompted to donate regularly at our local foodbank becuz I asked God if He would allow me to have enough to eat that I would be willing to distribute food instead of in line begging bread- & He seems to of honored that to this moment in time! As far as my future it looks very bleak if I listen to how the jobless rate is so high, & my husband's SSD will be threatened with reduction or loss once the wave of Baby Boomers start getting Soc.Security... I could be scared so bad, or remember I'm in HIS hands! Jesus has never failed to see me thru difficult situations that threaten my survival, so I sure won't start doubting Him now!
I don't know anything about Peru- but I'm glad you've had the privelege to serve there. Right now in the U.S. I think its almost like we're going into the 2nd Great Depression, mostly due to the falling away from God in America & of course how could God bless a country that murders its unborn children thru abortions by the millions? There is so much immorality, I think God is allowing our strife so people will wake up & realize we all need to depend on God to exist & flourish at all...

My best friend is from Peru. She says it is a dangerous country. For example, if you go to the bank to take out money, you are required by law to hire a body guard. Her mother and brother were attacked and beaten while riding in a taxi home. They have both moved to Canada, where they endure the -40C winters, because the paradise of Peru is not reflected in the economy - only the weather. It is a land of spiritual darkness. I have another close friend from Brazil, and she says the people are Catholics by day, and practice voodoo by night. But I also have a friend who is a pastor from Brazil, and he says that the evangelical movement is growing in central and South America.

It is truly wonderful that people go to the mission field, and I try and support them through various ministries, with money and in prayer. I do want to see revival in people's hearts, too - because I believe that is the only way to effect transformation. I would have loved to be a missionary, myself, but my life did not work out that way.

I think people here need to pray both for workers for the harvest and that the love of Christ would be spread throughout the world. In my Seminary, we have people who were on the mission field in Arab nations, in Uzbekistan and South East Asia. Those people are on the front lines, in spreading the gospel in unknown places. As Paul says in Romans 15:20, "It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else's foundation."
