Today's Word:
No matter what is happening in your life today, as a believer in Jesus, you have a reason to be excited about your future! If things seem dark right now, know that the dawn will soon appear. The key is you have to remember that you are not here by accident. You have a purpose and destiny to fulfill, and He isn’t finished with you yet. Your best days are not behind you; your best days are out in front of you.
One thing I know is that God is a God of increase. He has greater things in store for your future than you have experienced in your past. His dream for your future is so much bigger than your own. He wants to take you places that you’ve never dreamed and open up doors that you’ve never imagined. He wants to bring talent out of you that you didn’t even know you had. He wants to increase you and cause you to be a greater blessing to the people around you.
oday, get your hopes up and get excited about your future! Begin to thank Him for what He has in store. Keep standing, keep believing and keep moving forward because God has explosive blessings in store for you!

Tabitha, I don't know you, but. I care about you, so I encourage you to follow a teacher who will teach the truth of the bible AND defend it. Joel Osteen is not that teacher.

Joel Olsteen teaches the "prosperity" gospel. Easy to hear, easy to follow, but that's not Christ's message.
I agree with ndn that Joel isn't the best one to follow for spiritual advice. I'm pretty sure Angela, our last founder in this group, also tried to steer Christians away from this kind of minister.

Please don't take it personally. Like ndn so kindly said, he is worried about you and thinks you would do better with someone else as your guide.

I do like Dr Charles Stanley but I do believe that the Lord loves us as His children and wants to bless us all. Now this is not why we are christians, we are Christians because we know we are sinners and we are in desperate need of a saviour. We know the Lord does love us and does want to bless us with good things and gifts and talents. We obey the Lord and therefore use the gifts He gives us to further the kingdom.

Luke 6:38 ESV

Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

Personally I have been encouraged by Joel Osteen, but I agree with you all, he doesn't preach about repentance which is the key to the kingdom of God. We can't get to Heaven by just feeling good, it's got to be by the way of the Cross. In saying that God does have good plans for us.

I have nothing against Joel personally, and if he's lost I want him to get saved. I am against false teaching, or just a lack of scriptural teaching. Having seen his interview with Larry King a few years ago, and his appearances on Oprah a few months ago, I have to reject him as a man of God, because he's too worried about offending anyone to actually teach God's word.

There are so many ontv thatteach prosperity gospel which is false, another is a woman so many almost worshio, Joyice Meyers. I went once to one of her conventions in Toronto. and if I could have left I would have. she taught some truth mixed with her own heresy, she is bubbies with another ,Benny Hind and spends lavishly the money raidsed as well. Spash and dazzle are not Gods way. Read and compare what is said with the bible, not just a verse but the whole chapter. I took copious notes that day but one of the women I was with got upset and destroyed them as in it I had made notations of scripture and where she was out to lunch. The tv show is really edited so as not to upset the genral public.
If I offended anyone sorry but it is true. all these people have agenda and that is to get rich.

We must bewise and know the enemy because he can hide in the guise of a lamb.

Well I watch Joyce Meyers every morning and in fact THE HOLY SPIRIT prompts me to. Joyce Meyers is a TRUE woman of God . Also I just watched a recorded program of Joel osteen on Oprah from march the 31st. He speaks about not getting peoples approval but approval of God. Also he tells everyone to wake up every morning and be grateful and to get our minds off of ourselves and onto doing GOOD to others..sounds like a MAN of God to me.

God IS a God of SPLASH and dazzle in my opinion..just look at the universe (stars and moon, sun! galaxies)and the earth ..the mountains ..and all of us ....we are miracles the way our bodies have been created!!!

Let us see that the Lord is MAGNIFICENT and He wants us to know that about Him and we should accept our magnificence in Him

Kathilee-have you read any of his books! Or listened to his preaching? If you have, as I have, and you still think he's a man of God-then you believe in a different God.

This is all very interesting. Thomas, would you site some example of what you are talking about?
Never listened to Osteen much, but what I have read and heard his teaching lacks the intensity of the cross of Christ. Maybe I just missed that part because I haven't listened to him but maybe once and read a few of his postings like the one here.
They lack power in my opinion, but that is just my opinion.

I used to listen to Joyce Meyers every morning and read some of her books. I learned a lot about how Christian's should conduct themselves from her teachings. I feel God led me to her for that time in my life. She made a tape I think the name of it was "Be strong and Courageous" and it was nothing but scripture. I listened to it and it helped me when I was learning and growing.
I don't agree with everything she says, and I don't listen to her any more but I feel she has a message for certain people for certain times.

I do believe when we seek God He will lead us into the paths we need to help us learn and grow in Him.

Paulina, I encourage you to do a search of Joel Osteen on yewtube for his sermon called"I am." Also-the fact that he is working with Oprah is very telling, who, although professing christianity, claims there is more than one way to God. The scripture clearly states that Jesus is the only way. And that God the Fathr will draaw us to the son. You might try to find a copy of Joel's book, 'your best life now.'

I add that Joel's preaching is a variation of what is known as 'word-faith,' or 'word-of-faith' teaching which is attributed to Kenneth Hagin.

I think with so many different Christian speakers/leaders out there, some seem to speak to us, while others don't, we each hear different things from them. We need to be careful and do research to discern who has righteous motives, I guess. I like James and Betty Robison, Beth Moore, Robert Morris, Thelma Wells, Marylin Meberg, Patsy Clairmont, Max Lucado, Charles Swindoll, Charles Colson (prison conversion after Watergate conviction-RIP) and Andrew Wommack; have any of you heard anything askew with any of them???

I kind of feel like Joel is like eating the icing off the cake.

Anyway, the message IS a good one, no? It makes me think of Psalm 30:4-5

4 Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;
praise his holy name.
5 For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.

My pastor has been preaching a series he titled "Your not stuck! He played a short video of an old commercial where these two people are on an escalator (not elevator) and it stops. They just stand there yelling help instead of walking up the rest of the way. There are many times we think we are stuck, but we are not. God has a plan and something good for each of us...we must draw close to Him and trust that it's not over until God says so.
