Some people dont like the way I deal with death. I counted twenty people that I've loved and cared about that have died since I was ten. I am forty six now. People say they have 'lost' someone. My question is, how can you lose someone if you know where they are? I am fortunate to know that all the people that have died before me were believers in Christ. They are at my final destination! Our lives here on earth are merely a lay over to our real home.
Growing up military, I guess has made me get used to loving people and then being away from them. When someone I know dies; I grieve, I feel the loneliness. I miss them, but I do not grieve as the heathen. I know I will see them again. Someday.
My friend, Dianne, died about six months ago. She loved the Lord with her whole heart. There is no doubt in my mind that she is with Jesus even as I type this. I still have not taken her cell phone number out of my cell phone. I guess I'n not ready to let go of her yet.
But I talk to God about her everyday, about how she influenced my life and my faith.

I think you have a wonderful perspective. My dad died 3 months ago. He accepted the Lord three months before that, and I know he is with Jesus. I still get sad, miss him, but I know he is happier than in that old, sick body.

So I rejoice I will see him again one day. But still not looking forward to losing anyone else in the near future. Thanks for posting this inspiring message.

I lost my friend to breast cancer in 2010, she was only 50 and the thing that hurts is that she wasn't ready to go. She had a grandbaby on the way and her daughter was getting married. She also had not seen her family in England in a very very long time and none of them knew she was sick. She believed in Jesus and I'm sure is in heaven right now. It was much more easier for me to deal with my grandfather dying, even though it was sudden, he just seemed ready. Where I live, when somebody dies they carry the body in the street with the priest at the front of the mob and someone behind him carrying a huge cross. Maybe once a week I see a funeral in the street from the balcony. The first time I saw one, I was in the car and it made me so nervous I actually laughed.

Every thing works for the glory of the Lord. If she had cancer, she was probably in a great deal of pain and was ready to go. Those of us left behind are not ready for our loved ones to go, Take heart that she is in the living presence of Jesus and she knows what is going on down here. She probably knows her grandchildren and son in law better than she ever would have here on earth.

I am so sorry for you and your friend Rachael. My prayer was that my dad would have made it till March 18, when his great grand child is due. I know how sad it would be if I didn't live to see my grandchild. But we are not God, and his ways are not our ways. That is sometimes the only thing that helps when I ask the why questions about life.

It all comes back to the fact that God is in control. He is sovereign, and we are not. Very different death rituals where you live, for sure.

Thanks Angela, she was like a second mother to me, I miss her a lot. I just realized something huge, that she is actually the person who inspired me to search for alternative treatments for myself, because that is what she did, she never used any of the conventional medicine, although now I wish that she did.

You each have such good attitudes. And scriptural, not to grieve like those that have no faith. Yesterday I took my boss to see her niece for what may be the last time. The niece has terminal ovarian cancer and has been sent home to be in hospice care. The niece's family is Christian influenced, but seems so distraught. Bitter sweet, sad, melancholy, but with so many smiles and good food- like a farewell party. I couldn't handle it. I'm totally drained from the emotional undercurrents.

There are many like Rachael's friend, and my boss's niece that still have so much to live for. I'm still looking for all sorts of victory in this life, and I think of death as an enemy to be battled with every ounce, every fiber of my being.

I know that I am comforted by God allowing me to see my loved one get right with HIM just before his death so that I could know for sure he was in heaven!

I hate sickness and death, so many of my loved ones gone, I know it is selfish of me because I do know they are happy and at peace with Jesus, still hard and lonely for me without them, thats life, grieve and suffer.

I'm sort of like POGO. I've had so many people close to me pass from life to death that it would take a long time to really count them. Some I have loved dearly (brother, parents). Some I have merely loved (aunts, cousins, friends). Some were "natural" deaths, some accidents, some self-inflicted. But, they all are gone. Most I can rest assured that they are waiting under some big tree in Heaven with Jesus waiting for me to be there with them. Some, I really don't know. What I do know is that they had the opportunity and had the Gospel preached to them in both Word and Deed. So, it was their decision to make.

Yes, I grieve, but it's been a part of my life forever. Death, like so many other things, Just is. I think many are uneasy, even though they know their salvation is secure, because it's the mystery of the end of all we know and hold dear and familiar.
