The wisdom of the fathers COMPLETE REDEMPTION IN CHRIST

It is of the greatest importance to stress the truth that our full redemption from sin in this world can only be obtained in closest communion with the Lord Jesus and as a result of His accomplished work at Calvary. This complete redemption is an attending consequence of the fact that we have become new creations in Christ. Our NEW CREATION began in the person of Jesus on Easter Monday, for we are "born again into a li...ving hope through the resurrection of Christ." (1.Peter 1.3) There became the NEWNESS OF LIFE (Rom.6) visible for the first time. But even before this, it already existed for the violent who took it by force; (Mt. 11.12) and there was also a purification in advance. (John 15.3) but for our time applies the Word of Christ: "Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots." (Mt. 15.13) A sanctification of our old, sinful creation is impossible, and our attempts to improve ourselves are in vain and don't reach the desired goal. When the New Testament speaks of a pure heart, it means a sincere and surrendered heart, which is ready to receive the Holy Spirit and the grace of Jesus. (Acts. 15.9) Since God forbids sin and even punishes for it, there must exist the possibility to lead a sin-free, purified life - every contradiction to this truth would not only be illogical, but would deny the righteousness of God. If God has through the blood of His Son called a new creation into existence, it should go without saying that sin is non-existent for this new creation. - Although there will always be the possibility to fall out of our position in the new creation, God does not want us to dwell on these thoughts, resulting in doubts about the protecting power of the blood of Jesus and the faithfulness of the Holy Spirit. It would be like Peter after walking on water, looking away from the Lord and dwelling on the surrounding dangers. (by M. von Brasch)
