Hello Everyone,
For the past few weeks I have been posting in this group. Two separate people suggested that I should contact DS and become the founder, because I was told that the group had basically been abandoned by the leaders. So that is what I did, and I am now the founder here.
A little about me:
My name is Lynette. I am 43 and married. I have a 19 year old daughter (nealy 20) that just got married a month ago.
I grew up in church, and went to a Christian School from 7th grade to graduation. I have been to many different churches and I have heard a variety of doctrines and theological views. I want to respect everyone's beliefs, as they are all different. So I will try to focus on things that we can agree on. I have been made aware about some concerns about a few of my posts, so I will make a change and probably just focus on quoted Scripture, or uplifting songs. I want everyone to feel comfortable here.
I like to study Bible books as a whole, so I would like to do that in this group, unless others are opposed to it, and I would love others to join in. I will most likely start with the book of Galatians, unless someone else has a better suggestion. I am currently doing a study on Jeremiah in "Worhshipping Ladies" and I would like to finish that study first, so it may be a while. Everyone is welcome to join in on that study if you would like. We have covered chapters 1-18, and we are taking a short break and will be resuming with chapter 19 on Monday. Here is a link if you would like to join us there:

What’s the biggest challenge in your life right now?
Like you, I'm 43 and married. Sadly, my hubby and I were not blessed with any children, but we are super proud of our niece and three nephews. I have a rare illness that impacts my life every day and can sometimes be life-threatening. I'm fortunate to have a great support system of family and friends, and my faith also plays a big role in helping me through the tough times.
Growing up, my family went to church fairly regularly, but I was only taught the rules I needed to follow to avoid going to hell. Therefore, I struggle with the concept that God loves me, even though I’m not “perfect.” I’ve made some progress in this area, but still have a long way to go.
Galatians sounds good to me. Are you planning on using a particular study guide?

Thank you for introducing yourself, and giving me some of your background. I think a lot of people struggle with believing that God loves them as an individual, I struggled with that also for years, and never felt good enough.
Maybe this passage will help. Romans 5:7-9 (NLT) "Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. (8) But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us WHILE WE WERE YET SINNERS, (9) and since we have been made right in God's sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God's condemnation." God doesn't love you because of your behavior, He loved us IN our sin, and when we accept Christ as our Savior, Jesus blood cleanses us, and makes us right with God.
When we accept Christ, I think proof that we are true believers means that we should turn away from sin, and not keep doing what is wrong, because as it says in James 2:17 faith without works is dead, but we will never be perfect. 1 John 2:1-2 tells us, "My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you won't sin. But IF anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. (2) He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins--and not only our sins, but he sins of the whole world." So, of course we should not sin, but sin has been atoned for, and God still loves you, we can ask for God's forgiveness anytime we fall short and mess up, and God will be faithful to forgive us (1 John 1:9). His love for you isn't based on your performance. I'm sure you already knew all of those verses though, but sometimes it helps to be reminded.
For Galatians I just planned on typing out like 10 verses at a time, so we can all read it together, and then people can give their thoughts and opinions on the day's passage. I did that in another group for Romans, and it seemed to work well.

I am 64, God saved me 38 years ago. I am currently working on my PhD in Practical Theology. I also play and sing in our worship team and preach in my church. I have 4 grown children, and 5 1/2 grandchildren. God is good!
My hobbies are studying the Bible, gardening, and writing. Maybe after my knees are replaced I will get back into riding my bicycle, which is a real gift to me. I have a lot of auto-immune diseases, including RA. God has taught me so much through sickness, and has never left me!
