Christian Fellowship Community Group
A safe place for Christians who Love Jesus Christ to meet and ask for prayer and share scriptures from the bible. We value the posting of Christian music, poems, stories and also personal testimonies. Please let us know your needs, concerns and have some fun getting to know each other. We treat each other with respect.
My church just recently started a new series of Bible studies for women. Because I'm getting involved in multiple ministries in my search for a place to serve God long term rather than go back to a secular job, I debated over whether to do the Beth Moore study, James, or the James MacDonald study, When Life Is Hard. I chose When Life is Hard because the daily lessons were shorter, about half or 1/3 as long, because I was concerned that with all of the ministries I had volunteered for, I'd be too tired and too busy to do it all, my QT, Bible study, ministry, exercise, and family/friends/rest.
I really like my study, but when I went to volunteer at Dawson Women's Prison on Monday with the women from my church, it turns out they have just begun leading Beth Moore's study on James--the one I didn't choose because it would take a lot more time. I was told that I didn't need to get the book or do the study, but it turns out that during the time all of us volunteers meet with the women in small groups, we're supposed to be leading them in going over their homework.
So God has convicted me that I need to do this James study. I bought the book after my When Life Is Hard class on Tuesday. (We have a bookstore at my church where we buy our workbooks for the studies.) This morning I started it, after I did my first study. I realized that doing both studies, both on suffering and how to deal with it as Christians, that the two will complement each other! I feel this is going to be a really good blessing from God, and also off set my problems with memory because of my traumatic brain injury, so I'll retain more and do a better job of "being a doer of the word, not a hearer only."
But I can't help see the humor of God leading me to do both studies, the shorter one I picked, and the longer one I didn't want to commit to!
LOL!!!
