Standing The Test of the Storm Matt.7:15-27
OLDBIKER
Jesus was the greatest story teller of all time. There have been many great story tellers of history and of homelife and one of the mist recent was Jerry Clower, from Yazoo City, Mississippi,. He was a comedian, a Christian, a Deacon in his church and he went to be with the lord the past year. He told stories about the Ledbetter family that he grew up with. Clovis, Udell, Raynell, and Marcell. He told stories about this family coon hunting, school days and general things in life. Jerry made many albums and was on TV and was indeed a fine story teller.
Before I begin with today's message, let me make the following statements.
1.There are religious people who are lost
2.There are Deacons who are lost
3. There are Trustees that are lost.
4. There are preachers that are lost.
In this Scripture text today, Jesus tells the story of 2 men. One had a false profession and the other had a true possession.
The story is about 2 builders which represent 2 kinds of people in the world today.
Saved and Lost (unsaved).
The one man, who heard the word of God and obeyed it, the other man heard the word of God and ignored it. We have that same choice today.
The wise man built his hours upon a rock.--vs-24
This rock provided a solid, sound, foundation. Psalms 28:1 says the Lord is my Rock. Psalms 62:2, 6-7 says the God is our sure Rock. Christ is our firm foundation. 1 Corinthians 3;11 says that no other foundation will stand. "for no other foundation can any man lay than is laid, which is Christ Jesus!
That foundation is secure: 2 Tim.2:19 says."The foundation of God standeth sure having this seal that the Lord knoweth them that are his.
You can possibly fool the Preacher/Pastor, You can possibly fool the elders, deacons church members but remember this: "YOU CAN NOT FOOL GOD".
Questions: What are you building your life on? Who are you trusting in? What are you trusting in? Now we come to the part of the story where there is a fierce storm that challenged the structure and strength of this house. Vs-25 says the wise man's house stood firm in the storm.
2. the foolish man built his house on the sand (vs-26)
He heard God's word but ignored it/ Here are some of the choices if life's foundations.
A. Wealth--what will it accomplish?
B. Pleasure--how long will it last?
C. Praise of other people--how soon will they change?
Basically if you look at these things, these people are addicts to these types of choices.
For examples--addicts want more drugs all the time and want them more often.
Addicts of pleasure want more and more pleasure and more different kinds of pleasure
Addicts of money never seem to get enough of ot, they want more and more.
Addicts of Praise want more and more praise from everyone and anyone, it fuels them like gasoline does a motor. They want to be seen, to be heard and to be in the limelight, all the time. Let me make this comment here. None of these things mentioned impress me at all!!!!
Those things that are done, that few people know about are what impresses me., not the Glory Hogs, not the "look at me, look at me--ain't I something" people. If you take money, pleasure and prestige/popularity from these people. they come apart just like a drug addict.
Question: Will your Life's building, stand the storm? Notice the foolish man's house collasped when the storm came. Notice the storm was the same intensity!
Remember, Jesus said not everyone who calls Him Lord, Lord, shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Vs-21. Vs-20 says "by their fruits, ye shall know them"! What Fruits?
Read Galations Chpt 5, vs-22. This verse lists the fruits of the Spirit. love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and, temperance. Notice what vs 26 says "let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, annoying one another.
3. What then, was the difference in these Houses?
The Storm was the same, the rain descended, the floods came and the wind blew. The difference was THE FOUNDATION!
What os your foundation built on? Will it stand the storms of life? The storms are coming. Is your house ready to stand THE TEST OF THE STORM?
May this storm cause you to inspect your house and make it ready.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

Thanks for your comments. I hope you received a blessing from this message and it helps you. None of us are perfect but, we serve a perfect Saviour.
2 Corinthians 4:6-9 (New International Version)
"6For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness,"made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
7But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."
(when you have time read the whole passage but for time sake I will skip down to verse 16)
"16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
Our firm foundation is Him; our purpose is to be here to shine that Light before those who need to have this Light only found in Him too. So many are facing the same storms in life but without the hope we have in Him.
Great message OLDBIKER, I am going through some tough things right now myself and I really needed to be reminded that I will not be crushed in the process!
