This is a familiar passage of Scripture where Jesus is talking to His disciples. They had troubled hearts because he has been telling them about what was going to happen in the near future to Him.
Today, there are many people who are troubled over worldly events, the upcoming election, the moral decline of America and the violence and crime that is in our country and throughout the world today.
When we have these troubled hearts today, we should seek the Lord for only He can cure these uncertainties of our hearts. Jesus is the cure.
I. He is the cure for unsettled hearts (Verse-1)
Jesus said "Let not your hearts be troubled".
a. They were troubled because one of them was going to betray Him yet, Christ was faithful.
b. One of them was going to deny Him yet, Christ was always true
c. All of them would eventually desert Him, in the near future, Jesus was and is always with us.
II. He is the cure for unknowing hearts ( vs-4)
Thomas said " we know not whether thou goest".
Many today are the same. They are afraid of eternity and the question always arises "What lies beyond death"?
a. Jesus came to answer that question for all eternity. He told his disciples on vs 2 "In my Father's house
are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you and, if I go to
prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be
also". vs-3.
There should be no fear beyond death for those who have trusted Christ as Savior. The Great Apostle Paul
(my New Testament hero) said, "I have a desire to depart and to be with Christ, which is far better". Paul knew that there was an Eternal Home in Heaven with the Lord. He had no doubts, no reservations and no fear of what lie beyond his last breath here on earth,
III. He is the cure for the Unsaved Heart: ( vs-6)
Thomas has been called "doubting Thomas" by many but here, Thomas did not want any doubt.
He wanted to be where Jesus was. He did not want to miss Heaven. He wanted to see those mansions that Jesus described. This is why he asked Jesus "How can we know the way"? vs-5
Then Jesus gave all of them their answer. He said "I am The Way, The Truth and The Life, No man cometh unto the Father but by me".
Many people are trying to get to Heaven by doing good things. They join every charitable organization they can, they give to the poor, they may attend church regularly, etc. All of these are good things and personally, I feel as Christians, we should help wherever we can and we should do good things. Remember Jesus said "Let your light so shine before men, that they might see your good works and glorify your Father which is in Heaven." Matt. 5 vs 16.
We should be doing good things in life but, unless we know Christ as our Savior, they profit little compared to Eternity.
Jesus is our all in all, folks. He is our strength, He is our rock and our shield. He is our shelter in the time of storm and He is the cure for Unsettled, Unknowing and, Unsaved hearts.
May the Prince of Peace bring peace to you this week.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS BEING SO FAITHFUL AND TEACHING ME SO MUCH.
GOD BLESS YOU MY BROTHER AND MAY YOU HAVE A BLESSED AND PEACEFUL WEEK.
LOVE YOU....JULIE
