Cleaning up to Go Up--1 Cor. 6: 9-11
OLDBIKER
Years ago, as a country boy growing up on the farm, before we could go to town or to church, we had to "clean up".
This scripture today speaks of the Apostle Paul's writings to the church at Corinth. It was filled with former pagans and they were being reminded of what Christ had accomplished for them on Calvary.
Paul makes a reference to the Past, the Present and the Future.
Paul refers first to "The way they were" He mentions all sorts of immoral behavior in vs. 9-10. None of these were fit for heaven, as the old saying goes. Then, look at verse 11. "And such were some of you". Paul says. Whether we fall into these categories or not, the Bible is still true. " All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. Rom. 3: 23 God's grace rescues and changes people. 2 Cor. says "if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature and behold, all things become new.
Secondly, Paul then mentions the Present- vs-11. He states their present condition. He says ye are washed, ye are sanctified, ye are justified. We are complete in the finished work of Christ on the cross, when He shed His blood for the remission of our sins, Rom. 3:25 . It is God that justifies us through Christ. We can not justify ourselves!
Then Paul refers to the way we will be--The Future:
Justified sinners someday, will be just like Jesus. 2 John 3:2 says that "when He shall appear (Jesus), we shall be like him for we shall see Him as He is. We will have a new body. Praise the Lord. No more aches, pains, sorrow, death, tears, parting, disease, no funerals, no cemeteries, and no sinful desires.
I have often said "We need to be prayed up, packed up and, ready to go up instead of being huffed up, puffed up, and ready to blow up".
We have a wonderful Saviour, that gave His life for us that we, through His atoning sacrifice of himself, cleanses us from sin when we trust Him as our Saviour and Lord. His blood cleanses us from sin and "cleans us up so we can go up"
May this message be a blessing to you.

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

Your message was a true blessing. Thanks for the time and effort. I might be wrong in this but when Christ arose from the grave and doubting Tomas put his hand into the Side of Jesus and See tha nail prints on his hands and feet could this mean that Christ will live with us for eternity with the scars still on His body and our new body will be perfect? Just a thought that if true, we will be reminded every day we see Jesus in heaven for the price that was paid for us to be saved.

Joh 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
Joh 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
Doesn't this show that Jesus' new resurrected body still had the marks on Him from the cross? Did Jesus obtained a perfect body before he ascended back to heaven.
Rev, chpt 5 about verse 6 it refers to a Lamb (Jesus) as it had been slain) I believe this depicts the scars of Jesus are visible to those around the Throne of God I also read that, they shall look upon Him in whom they have pierced propheceid in Zechariah and repeated in the New Testament. The scars in Jesus hands and feet were infallible proof of who He was to His disciples prior to His meeting with Thomas and then later with Thomas. Remember, Jesus was not recognizable to Mary, nor to His disciples, this is why He showed them the scars. When Jesus ascended into Heaven in Acts 6 vs-11 The angels said "This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in the like manner as ye as seen Him go into heaven. " "This same Jesus" to me refers that He (Jesus) still had the scars at that time when He ascended and He still has them today and will have them in heaven for all eternity. When we get to Heaven my brother, we will see these scars and I will tell you "see, I told you so". Whether or not you or I disagree on this or not really doesn't matter. Jesus is my Saviour, My Lord, and my best friend, scars or no scars.
I totally agree. I need a few things fixed too.
God bless
