Cholecystitis is inflammation of the gallbladder. It is commonly due to impaction (sticking) of a gallstone within the neck of the gall bladder, leading to inspissation of bile, bile stasis, and infection by gut organisms. Cholecystitis may be a cause of right upper quadrant pain. In severe cases, the gall bladder can rupture and form an abscess.
Can anyone tell me what the very first symptoms were that they noticed? Looking hard for info re this condition. Did your symptoms turn out to be something else? Would appreciate any information. Thanks.
Thanks so much for your reply. I have had what you described except for the vomiting. I get really nauseated, even just smelling food. In fact, that was the first symptom. I never get nauseous. My PCP referred me to a gastro dr and she has ordred an endoscopy and another sonogram (my third). What is sludge? Did your doctor ever use that term with you? If you had it, what did they do about it? Gallbladder trouble runs in my family, my mom's turned to cancer and it spread to other organs and she died. My sister's was removed and she didn't miss a beat (I want to be like her when I grow up!). Anyway, I can't have the procedures done til Oct.3rd. Hope everything goes well for you and so glad you wrote me. Will let you know what my diagnosis is.
