My parents recently got separated. They can't get divorced because they don't have the finances. This also means that they are still living together. I just need help coping with constant arguing and fighting. When I get into and argument with someone, that person takes it out on someone else and then the whole house turns to shit. What do I do?

Divorce and separation can very very difficult for all parties involved. There can be a lot of negative feelings such as anger and resentment especially if they are in the beginning stages of it. Ideally, parents need space from one another to be able to deal with their feelings individually, if they are living together things can be very disruptive especially for their children. Depending on what kind of relationship you have with your parents I would suggest that if you do have a good relationship with one or both that you talk to them about how you feel. Tell them how the fighting and arguing affects you and ask that if they have to live together that they are mindful of their behavior. If this isn't possible for you talk to someone you trust about what you are experiencing or even go to your school counselor. It is important that you have support in helping you cope with the situation. If you find that things become unbearable for you try to become involved in school activities, go to the gym etc to limit your time in that not so healthy environment. Sending you positive vibes and hoping your situation gets better. Hugs!

It's not as simple as just talking to them. And I can't go anywhere because I don't have my lisence. I can't go anywhere with one of them without hearing about the other.

I know exactly how you feel. My parents are separating but continue to live together and I don't have my license either so it sometimes feels inescapable. It has been really hard to deal with them fighting. I just try to remember that things will not always be this way. And I try to find someone to talk to. A sibling is a good first choice because they can really relate to it what you are going through, but if you are an only child or if you're like me and you also struggle talking to your sibling, a close friend would be a good second choice. If i'm having a really hard day, whether it's my parents fighting or i'm just going through something, I turn to my best friend. Her parents are together so it's hard for her to relate, but I know she'll listen and be there for me if I need her. Hope this helped.

My parents got divorced. They we're together fighting a long time. I had to just try to do other things. I was younger then and I really didn't know what was going on. It's really hard I know.
