Childless Not By Choice Community Group
This group is for people who after years of trying to conceive or for medical reasons never got to have children.
I was talking with my mom on the phone yesterday. She was telling me about the 3 year olds in her classroom (she's a "grandma" in the local grandparent program). When we were discussing how cute they were, she exclaimed "Are you sure you don't want kids?" At the time, I just told her I was too old. But then I got to thinking. She knows I wanted to have a child ever since I was in my late teens. She knows I had a gastric bypass surgery to reverse the PCOS that I had so I COULD have a child. She sees my pain as I love on my nephew as if he were my own. She knows I don't have anything to do with others' babies because it's too painful to not have my own. Maybe it was a senior moment she was having, being so insensitive...it just stings, that's all.
I didn't talk to my mum much when I was going through treatment...infact I didn't really talk to anyone, but I know she didn't agree with it...'what will be will be and some people just aren't lucky enough to have kids ' That really hurt me at the time but hurts even more now as she thinks what my niece has done is wonderful and she's really excited about the imminent birth. I don't understand it!!
