My sons father left me when I was pregnant, we never got married nor lived together but then he showed up at the hospital for ny sons birth, signed the birth certificate than he was out... He saw my son 2 or 3 times when he was an infant, then once at 1 year old only because we ran into each other out of nowhere coincidentally. Never saw him after that until... Fast forward to almost 15 years later NOW because it’s in his convenience and he is “curious” he wants to try to exercise his visitation rights... well that is not fair to my son. My husband who has raised my son since he was a baby is the only man he knows as his father, he doesn’t even know the existence of his biological father (which I assume he is the biological father, we never got a DNA test) so again, that is not fair to my son. My son has a loving father who he only knows and that is the way it should be kept for my sons sake and best interest. This is a critical age. Plus he is old enough to make his own decisions and has the right to refuse to want to meet this stranger anyway. Any advice or experiences out there? There are so many man and women who have been in their child’s life and then to lose custody is horrible, they deserve their kids... but not dead beats especially for this long.
Did your husband adopt him? Because if he has then, your ex may not have any parental rights.....Does your son have any interest in meeting his birth dad? Although your son loves and adores his current daddy, he might have questions about birth dad? Really talk to your son and see what he wants because when the courts step in they will ask him that question too - and it sounds like your a mom that reallhy cares about what is going on with her son; you should want to know what your son feels about it.
I have 4 sons. And they do not even have any communication with their birth dad. I fought to save them from him - they didnt have a strong bond with him , and he is a felon offender -
He is only a deadbeat if he was supposed to pay child support...Is there a court order? If not, you could start one - provided that your hubby hasnt already adopted your son.
Does your son know that his current dad isnt his birth dad?
Im sorry that this is happening to you - I have been fighting for child support since 2012 for 4 sons. I have been in and out of the courts for that long....
