I have a friend who got a divorce about a year and a half ago and had a 12 year old son. He has not ever been to school and can barely write his name. My friend worked full gtime and bought the things r required to home school his son, but the mother obviously did not do it. Now the mother is living in a motel with her boyfriend and from what my friend is told, the 12 year old sleeps in a closet on the floor and stays alone while the adults go to work. The boy has called my friend once and asked if he could order pizza and have it delivered because they had no food.
My friends son also had to have brain surgery 3 years ago and there has been no regular checkups following that nor any dentist visits. This situation makes me very upset and angry. What can be done about this situation

Your friend needs to fie new papers to get full custody of his son, otherwise the child (when CPS finds out) will be going into the court system. He needs to be in a stable household and this is anything but! CPS and custody papers!
