Polygamy is actually having more than one spouse no matter religion. However church of Latter Day Saints tend to support this concept in the US. (Not all LDS tho).
Polyamory is (romantic) loving more than one person.
An open marriage is an arrangement with your spouse where either or both are allowed to step outside the marriage and have a relationship with another person. I don't think it necessarily has to involve loving multiple people if you're the kind of person who can handle a casual hook up.
My a was more about sex. I was looking for a certain type of sexual relationship. I was and am not in love with my husband. I was really only after an escape from marriage. No plans of falling in love but I did. However I don't think I'm capable if polyamory. I do believe lots of people are. I could be open to multiple sex partners but I just don't think I could be in love with multiple men at a time.
I did try over the years, to explain to my husband, who I always loved, always loved the sex with him, that I "needed" more, but I couldn't ever define what that was. A lot of it was just communication. We are both horrible with that. We always were. Thing is, it was still easy for us pre-marriage, so when you say, "Most things that are worth something are not easy," wish when it got hard, I understood that before I acted on anything.
I do think you can love two people at the same time. We aren't really wired to ONLY love one, but it's the choices we make that matter.
