Champions Of Christ Church Community Group
This is a church, but online! Most people view a church as the building you go to for worship. NOT TRUE. In the beginning, it was a community that shared things. This is a church. A web-based community who can share with others. Feel free to ask questions. There are no "dumb" questions. How will you know unless you ask. I only ask that you have JOY. (Respect of Jesus,...

This may be a little long but I'll try to be as brief as possible.
I urgently need prayer for my only brother, whom I'll call Ted. Ted is dealing with some major health problems (he will be 70 in January) but that's not why I'm writing.
Our family has always been very troubled, ever since I can remember. I have 3 sisters too, but they have given up on Ted (none of them are Christians). To be brief, Ted is full of rage. He's quite a bit older than I (16 years) but we have a lot in common. Our Mom died suddenly when I was 10 and Ted 26. Mom favored him and me, Ted because he is her only son and me because I'm the baby of the family (and,of course, that caused some problems between us and our sisters). Ted has told me some hard things he's gone through in his life, but none of them seem to me to be the source of his burning anger. He claims to be a Christian (he spends more time in prayer than I do), but, oddly,he rarely mentions Jesus. He has, however, shown improvements in his attitude toward his family. His wife left him 20 years ago,for example, and for years he cursed her but more recently, he told me he knew the divorce was his fault and that she was the most wonderful wife he could have had. He has two grown children and two grandchildren, and they keep trying to reach out to him (as I have), but his rage has alienated him from everyone except me. I must confess that even I think if the situation doesn't somehow improve, I can't take much more either.
His behavior has become increasingly bizarre. He has a fixation about his neighbors, thinking they are watching his house and have tapped his phone etc. There is a history of mental illness in our family. I have bipolar 1 but am managing it the best I can with God's help. Since obviously I am not a psychiatrist, I can't diagnose Ted. But I am very concerned for him because he seems to get worse every time I see him. I almost had an accident driving to his place this morning because I was so preoccupied with things.
I guess that's pretty much it in a nutshell. I've been praying about it since I got home from Ted's this afternoon. God is showing me things (one thing He told me is that I should have prayed before I re-established contact with Ted; over the years there has been a long history of fallings-out among us five siblings). Please pray for Ted,and secondly for me because if God wants to use me to minister to Ted, I am willing. I'll try to hang in there but it's getting very very hard. Please help by praying. Thanks.
There is one thing I feel the Holy Spirit is leading me to tell you: Ted's house used to be our Dad's, and Ted bought it and moved in after Dad entered a nursing home (Dad died 10 years ago). Dad was also extremely verbally abusive, and my oldest sister Charlene used to run errands for him when he became housebound. He treated her like garbage, but bravely (and admirably) Char helped him until he passed away. I mention this only because I find it almost eerie that I've been helping Bob in the same house where Dad lived and mistreated Char so (Char and I even look alike). Like I said I felt led to share that.

I come from a place that I know rage I have it. What it takes to make it through it is medicine. Then prayer. Then the person someday will develop coping tools. It has taken me many years to get control of my rage. I'm on several medicines for it. My family hates that. But I can survive now. I haven't had rage in a long time. Talking to someone to find and handle any or all causes of his rage can take years.
Medicine does help. It is not an easy road as well. Your brother needs to take time to focus on himself and his thoughts. He needs to identify the triggers. Then in the begining he needs to avoid triggers.
Getting him to a psychiatrist for medicine. The a psychologist is the first few steps. Changes come slow. They do come. God support, Family support, and psychiatric help.
I have the problem your brother has. It falls under the same diagnosis. Yet it is different. It is different for each victim. I have learned a lot on my journey.
