Champions Of Christ Church Community Group
This is a church, but online! Most people view a church as the building you go to for worship. NOT TRUE. In the beginning, it was a community that shared things. This is a church. A web-based community who can share with others. Feel free to ask questions. There are no "dumb" questions. How will you know unless you ask. I only ask that you have JOY. (Respect of Jesus,...

"Vain repetitions" has nothing, what so ever to do with asking the Lord, over and over, for answer to prayer. Paul did it, often!!! Just like the rest of us, how will He know unless you talk to Him. No, not quite right. Of course He knows. But He would like to talk to you about it.
Matthew 6
5 And when thou pray, yoou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
The important thing here is to read what was going on when Jesus said this. He was talking to the common people. He was trying to tell them that the religious leaders of the day were NOT the ones they needed to be copying. The religious leaders were praying loud and repetitious prayers. They were repeating them from memory, not saying them from their hearts.
That is why He said go into your private place, where it's just you and God. Pray from your heart. And God, who sees the private things, will reward you outwardly, where everyone will see.
Those religious people who prayed outwardly where everyone could see. well, they already had what they deserved.
I hope this helps.
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
"Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before."
Psalm 119:164 (NIV)
"Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws."
Daniel prayed three times a day, and David praised Him seven times a day. I think the "vain repetitions" have to do with how sincere you are. God knows your heart.
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks
