This is always a tough one for me, especially since I know firsthand the effects of anxiety and depression. I have heard many people say that because after committing suicide, you are no longer alive and therefore cannot ask for forgiveness. The scripture used is probably "Thou shalt not kill." I just prefer to leave the decision up to God.

It's probably a stretch, but supposed you are committing a sin (lying, for example.) when you are shot. The bullet kills you instantly. Are you bound for heaven or hell?

I will give you a story about some people I knew that lost their son to suicide. He was wheelchair bound and in constant pain. He shot himself while his parents were at church on a Sunday evening. I don't think it is up to us to speculate on his fate.

I believe that many people use the bible and God in their own way to answer hard or impossible questions. They make the bible say what they want it to say, because, as humans, we need answers. I also believe the bible has ALL the answers. I think that suicide is more a selfish act. Mainly because it seems to be a way out. But, what about those you leave behind. Did you think about what they might feel? Did you think about what might happen to those family and friends you left behind. The anger. The "what if......"

Here is what I believe that God said in reference to suicide:

Matthew 12:31
[ The Unpardonable Sin ] “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.

I believe that God will forgive ANYTHING we do, even suicide. But, one thing will not be forgiven. Blasphemy against God, the Holy Spirit, will not be forgiven.

You have surely heard, "once saved, always saved." I believe here is a scripture that says that::
Ephesians 1:13
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

You are SEALED With the Holy Spirit OF PROMISE.

When your in this serious state of mind you cannot think clearly. I believe that everyone who deals with depression should be covered in prayer everyday for suicide because you never know when it will per say "hit you." We can do our part in reading the scripture and renewing our minds as much as we can, but if we happen to wake up one morning feeling really down, this is when our brothers and sisters have to pray and believe for us.

I've taken many bible classes and studies, and this subject came up. My professor didn't believe that those kinds of people go to hell, because in God's eyes we're like sick. Our minds won't allow us to think clearly like a healthy person's would. Another example: If I kept forgetting who you guys were and forgetting to come on here, then all of a sudden decide "Oh, I think I may kill myself today sounds good." You see, my mind wasn't clear to begin with since I was forgetting who you guys were and to come on here. So in God's eyes I have a mental illness. Now, if I killed myself on purpose just to see what hell was like, l would say let God be the judge on that! Have I confused everybody yet?!

Thanks for all responses.....I wanted to know the answer for a couple of reasons: 1.) I have always wondered? 2.) I have had a strong "urge" as of late........

Resist the urge because we are the TEMPLE of Christ.
I have read the BIBLE numerous times and don't recall suicide ever being mentioned but:
"Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you." 1 Corinthians 3:16

I'm sure you are loved by people here on earth who would be very hurt .
Lets press on and fight the good fight for we were meant to be courageous !

I will begin with Genesis 8:5, Where the LORD talks about no one taking of any life. Another thing you might want to consider is that if God provided for our lives why on his earth would he support or approve of us taking of these lives? The only taking of a life that God approves of is in the case of self defense or to protect your homeland or if your personal property is being threatened.

Also, you have to remind yourself that if God would have approved of suicide don't you think that he would have made it possible to display it in all of the several thousand pages of the Bible? So , also with the premise you made that "no where does God tell us we cannot take our own lives" also he does not tell us that we can take our lives...You will only find that he provides food, shelter, and knowledge for us to sustain our lives....

You do not have to accept your life as it dictates right now NA, YOU have the knowledge and wisdom to change whatever sin that inhabits your soul and conscious. When God sees that you are doing all you can to discontinue your sin(s) that haunt you he will deliver you from those sins...or sin.

I can't tell you how to live or not live your life NA . We are each responsible for each of our lives and sins...I cannot solve or bring complete resolution to your sorrow, NA Only you can do that. God will not allow me to cross over into your soul as an attempt to resolve your problems...But HE Did give me resolution to my own sins and problems..

I will continue to pray for you in your time of need....But you must do as God asks as well.
