Hello everyone, I'm new here! I have been having some gynecological issues (post coital bleeding, pain during sex, bleeding between periods, heavy long periods, you name it). I recently just turned 21 last week, and had to go in immediately for a pap smear on my bday. They tested everything i assume. The gynecologist said she saw some bloody discharge while doing my pap. She wants me to do a transvaginal ultrasound on the 18th. I also have HPV, I am not sure of the strain. But I am a little worried about everything. Maybe its because I'm young and I feel like I'm too young to go through this. I don't know what to say to be honest. Whay do you all think? What should I do?

Hi, conejita. I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this.

Most people your age have hpv, so I think that it’s unlikely that your problems are hpv related (although it’s always good to check and be sure).

There are lots of things that could be causing your symptoms, most of which are benign - but annoying, for sure! Sounds like your doc is being thorough in trying to get to the bottom of it.

I always found the waiting part of things (waiting for appointments, waiting for results) to be super stressful. Gives the mind time to go to some dark places. When do you get your pap results back?

It was benign. They did a endometrial biopsy today and it hurt so bad. I was in tears, my mother had to hold me during the procedure. My ultrasound said I had a cyst on my right ovary. If it keeps growing, they will have to remove it. Which is not at all what i want since I want to have children. Those chances are getting cut short. The pap came back as ASCUS. I never had a endometrial biopsy before and never again will i have one. I had a colposcopy before though. I'm having a number of things wrong with me. I have a appointment to the GI doctor due to significant rectal bleeding, the er physician couldn't even tell me what's wrong.

I’m so sorry you had such a bad time. Are they considering endometriosis as a possible explanation for your symptoms? It’s one of the harder things to diagnose but it’s not uncommon and can cause symptoms like you describe. Sending healing hugs your way!

No they haven't even mentioned it. They never do. Its crazy, i found out today that my grandmother had CC and i never even knew that!

Definitely follow up with your doc. I had an abnormal pap and never went back for my check up and the Hpv I had progressed to cervical cancer. I had to get a radical hysterectomy at 23 because I had a 4 centimeter tumor on my cervix. Mine was a special case, it was very fast and aggressive, but it sounds like you are doing what you need to do to figure out what's wrong. Best of luck!
