HSIL CIN III

This has to be the most confusing health condition I've ever had to deal with or understand.  After two abnormal paps I had a polcoscopy about a month ago.  My Gyno said I have warts and she gave me some reading material that relates to LSIL CIN I. 


I followed up this week with her for the results of the polcoscopy and she gave me the same sheet as last time but this time she hi-lited the material that relates to HSIL CIN III. 


I'm scheduled for a LEEP Jan 19th and I'm not sure what to expect results wise.  Am I correct in understanding that this isn't just to scrape abnormal cells but also to further diagnose how bad my situation is?  Do you think I could expect more bad news after this?  Am I to understand that this isn't just a treatment - it's also a tool to diagnose?  Is there a possibility that I could have like the worst kind of CC? 


I don't understand why she would even take a visual guess after doing the polcoscopy and tell me it's LSIL CIN I - why say this if you need to have samples reviewed?  It's like not looking at the big picture and making a diagnosis ... I'm confused and feel like the 19th can't come fast enough.  


I'm hypersensitive about what's happening inside my body at the momment, every twinge or awkward feeling makes me scared.  People tell me I'm just imagining it and that's just annoying me - I know my body and genuinely feel like something isn't right.

When you say HSIL CIN III, does that mean that after the colposcopy this is still the diagnosis your doctor gave you and not CC? If so, rejoice!! I just read up on CIN and it seems as though you most likely don't have cancer if your doctor still referred to it as CIN after your colposcopy. After my colposcopy I received a phone call telling me I had a cancer and an OB/GYN Oncologist would be calling me soon. So, I think your doctor is just doing this procedure to rid your cervix of the abnormal cells before they have a chance to turn cancerous. However, you really should feel free to call and ask your doctor or their nurse any questions you may have. They know how much anxiety this can give women and I'm sure they would be understanding of all your questions. Lord knows I had a ton throughout my treatments and all the healthcare staff were super understanding. I will also say that my friends and family, while very supportive, none of them actually knew what I was going through or feeling and therefore they often had no idea what to say to me throughout my treatment.

Hi there,

A LEEP is used for both. It can be a tool both for treatment and for diagnoses. Since your surgery is scheduled so far out, my guess is that the doctors are not too worried at the moment.

They will also test what comes out of you from the LEEP. Depending on what those results are will determine whether the LEEP was a treatment or diagnostic tool in your case.

It is possible that you will receive worse news, but it also possible that this will be the end of it. It's impossible to tell until you have the LEEP.

My advice: take good care of yourself after the LEEP. I've had two done in the past six months and it's important to take it easy and let yourself recover. Get out and walk every day, but take it slow. No running to catch a bus or rushing around, for at least a few weeks. Pamper yourself!

The waiting (for all of it) is the worst part.

You will get through this!
