Do what your heart tells you to do. Sometimes we get led all our lives by our cp. I learned that not going after your dreams will make you fail for sure. Plz learn that u got good qualities to offer others. I have cp on l side. im a g-pa 55 yrs old!

I'm dating someone without CP as well. For my boyfriend it's been quite a learning experience; I found out recently that he's done research to learn more about CP and epilepsy (which I also have). I've also found that things that are important to me become important to him because he likes me.
If you want to date him and he you, go for it. Communication is key so express your fear(s), I'm sure he has some of his own as well.

I'm on the other end of the topic. My girlfriend has CP and it's been interesting at times. If you start dating him make sure he's informed about CP and know's what to expect. We've been dating for two years now and I hardly notice her CP anymore. My biggest challenge was learning how to take care of her and what extra needs she needed. Your CP shouldn't get in the way of being happy in a relationship. Give it a shot but information is the best way to approach this situation. Inform him of what needs you have and it's like any other relationship. Good luck!!

I agree that you should do what your heart tells you... relationships are all about building trust, and caring for the other person. When I date someone new I tend to worry about them accepting what I endure. But then when I'm open to them about my feelings about it, they really care about it too. A good guys will want to find ways to help you because they care about how you feel. You would do the same for him, if he confided something like that in you as well.

If you want to be with this person, let him know whats on your mind. As someone said eariler, communication really is key. Be open about you fears, and if he cant be understanding about them, then he probably wasnt right for you. I had the same fears when I started dating and I quickly learned a lot of them were unwarranted. Better to have gone out on a limb and put yourself out there than live the rest of your life wondering what could of been.

Hi Honey, I would normally say go for it. I have read your profile and you seem like an amazing person. CP won't stop the right guy from wanting to be with you, so you need to believe that there will be others. I am only saying this, because you are 20 and if he is much younger, you may need to think about whether or not you have dated much already. Maybe your emotional level as far as dating is concerned has not caught up with the rest of your wonderfulness. Of course, if you were much older the same age difference would not matter. You haven't posted lately. I hope you are alright.

Just wanted to add to my other comment earlier... I actually am dating a guy who doesn't have CP. I have CP, and he didn't know in the beginning. When I told him, I was making it so hard for myself to break it to him because I was afraid he wasn't going to understand. I was upset when I told him, and he felt sad for me, because I guess this is a new thing for him to take in. But he was upset because he said that he didn't want anything bad to happen to me, because he cares so much for me. It was sweet. He was upset that I didn't trust him enough earlier on to tell him about my condition. He doesn't think that makes me less than what he thought I was when we first met. It just brought us even closer together. After that, he started opening up to me about more personal things about himself too. He started confiding more in me. And he also became a supportive person in my goal to treat my condition.

Go for it...If he loves you, he will look past the CP...My boyfriend is very supportive with my CP...You do not need someone who will not accept you for YOU!

Take a chance... You never know what will happen. Be honost with him.

I am currently dating a man who is my biggest supporter. He kicks my but into gear when i lax on my therapy..... He listens to me and helps me when I need help.... All thebest to u hun..

Hi I'm Chris, 33 year old male dating a wonderful girl with CP. I met my girlfriend online, and even though she lives 2000 miles away I will stop at nothing to be by her. I am even going back to school to get my degree in social work. She was so caring and kind to me she took my heart away and I fell for her hard. I'm glad she showed interest in me because I can't imagine days now without thoughts of her beauty and love. As an able bodied man dating this wonderful girl, I don't see CP but only her for who she is. I've done so much research about CP it's crazy, and I'm prepared to do whatever I have to to be with her. We have had conversations about her CP and I ask her many questions. She laughed her ass off when I said I didn't give a shit about CP and that I just wanted her. As able bodied, it is my opinion that there exists not a more lovely, sexy, beautiful, more desireable woman than mine who has CP. So......go for it! If he is not the right one then it's good to know now. As for me, I am going to propose to my girl with lovely CP in some romantic way and start a family with her.

I am married to someone with CP (I don't have it myself). What helped me look past it? I found her to be mature. She understood the troubles of maintaining a household with bills and the level of trust required to not only be a good "business partner" but also a good wife; whereas the women that came before her just kept screaming at me for a baby, but I digress... I've been married for two and half years now (got married at 26 years old, we're the same age). It also helps to educate your potential mate on your condition, but of course if he's really interested he'll look it up himself.

That, and of course she is an amazing woman!
