Cerebral Palsy Support Group
Cerebral palsy or CP is the most common childhood physical disability. It is a permanent physical condition that affects movement. There is no cure for cerebral palsy, but various forms of therapy can help a person with the disorder to function more effectively. If you or a loved one has cerebral palsy, join the group to share your experience or get advice from others.

Hi everybody,
Its been almost 5 years since I've been on here. Just felt like writing the other day in my journal and I've been checking out some of the boards too.
I saw some posts about dating and relationships on here. So I just wanted to share my situation and maybe it will give hope to some because I didn't have much hope before I met her...
So here's the situation. 5 months ago my co-worker came to me and said I want to set you up with my daughter. I was like cool! :) She explained to me that her daughter had a mild learning disability called William's Syndrome.
Basically she is more emotional than the average person and can be childish at times, nut hey aren't we all? ;) She has some physical issues as well, her heart is a bit weaker, and she has sensitive hearing. Not to get too personal but sexually she is as mature as the next person though, so I don't feel like I'm taking advantage of her, otherwise I don't think I could date her honestly. So it feels comfortable and not weird.
But, all that said. She is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, she's so sweet as well. I'm not even sure how they call what she has a disability, I think being a jerk or an a-hole is a disability lol...
She doesn't see my CP, (I'm considered mild CP on my left side, mine is just physical, I have no learning/speech issues). She sees me for me, and I don't see her "disability." I just see a beautiful, sweet girl that I love so much.
I'm not sure what the future holds for us, I hope marriage someday...But right now she has brought me so much love and joy in my life I cannot tell you guys. She's only my 3rd girlfriend in my life at 32 years old, and by far the most serious. She's never had a steady boyfriend either, just dates here and there, but I guess guys never stuck it out with her. So its new for both of us, but we are making it work!
I never thought I could give someone so much love in my life, its great. So anybody on here with CP don't get down, there is someone for everyone. Everyone should be loved for who they are and not denied love because of a disability. I wish more people would open their heart and accept people for who they are.
I know its a shallow, media driven, perfect image/body world we live in, but there is someone out there that I promise like me and my girlfriend that will not see your disability and only love YOU...
Peace and love! :)

I couldn't agree more. You sound like you've found your match. I hope your relationship works out for you both. I'm not sure whether you remember me, but I remember you. I can't believe it's been 5 years, since you've been on here. It's lovely to see you back.

I just got married in June 2015. It's great to be in love. The problem is that i have mild CP which she knows but wife likes to be very active & she forgets that when I say I have no energy I'm not only tired but in a lot of pain. I'm glad you found someone & hopes it work out.
