Cerebral Palsy Support Group
Cerebral palsy or CP is the most common childhood physical disability. It is a permanent physical condition that affects movement. There is no cure for cerebral palsy, but various forms of therapy can help a person with the disorder to function more effectively. If you or a loved one has cerebral palsy, join the group to share your experience or get advice from others.
I find that having a few close friends helps you develop communication skills. Its best for those friends to be of both the same and opposite sex in my opinion. I am a guy and the fact that I have close friends that are girls helps me communicate well with women in general that I am attracted to or if i just want to be friends. You get the best of both worlds that way.
Anyway welcome to the site. Talk to me anytime if you need a friend :)
I also suffer from CP and am experiencing the same thing, having just completed my first year at uni, [I moved away from home to live and study in Aberdeen]. I suffer from confidence issues especially around big groups of people my own age.
I have sometimes found it helpful to take on another more confident character role which has helped me to break the ice and feel more relaxed around people. I have also joined clubs/ societies so as to meet people who share the same interests as myself. I have also learnt, living independently that sometimes [no matter how scary it may seem] you just have to put yourself out there and bite the bullet, otherwise you'll kick yourself for not ceasing the opportunity.
Finally you may also find that jokes and humor go a long way in breakdown barriers.
Hope this helps :-D
