Hi, my daughter who is 3 has just been diagnosed with coeliac disease, her level was 49, I am coeliac as well so are my 2 sisters and my niece. Why did they make him fast before his test? My daughter also has cystic fibrosis and was tested 12 months ago for coeliac with her annual cf tests and was negative. She is off to hospital in 10 days for a gastroscopy for confirmation. With a reading of 100 your son definetely sounds like he has it. Are you coeliac? It is a good thing to have an early diagnosis. I guess it will be easier with my daughter with myself having it as well, but if you would like any advice let me know. Karen

My son is 8 ..he fasted cause he had other test ran to..I had him tested because he was bloated all the time..I cook at home mostly home cooked meals..I just had him retested to be sure..I might have it just because the pain i get when i am eating gluten and i did had a huge polp removed when i was 26..why are you having her tested for gastroscopy..Isn't that a hard procedure to do..I hope the test was wrong but if not i will have to except it..:(..I just want to get my son well.

In Australia, they usually take a biopsy after the blood testing positive just as confirmation and I suppose just to see any damage of intestines. I was diagnosed 10 years ago nearly and have a gastroscopy every 12 months. My intestines were repaired after my first year biopsy. I went 32 years undiagnosed and have osteopenia and have never been able to get my vitamin d levels up. In Australia we also have bone density test every 2 years. I am also dairy intolerant and cant tolerate caffeine. My 16 year old is not coeliac but is waiting for genetic test results to see if she is predisposed to get it. You say you might have it, have you been tested? Forgot to add. a gastroscopy isnt hard to do it is more getting her to fast for 6 hours before the procedure. Cheers Karen

I have never been tested but my stomach bloats from bread and pasta..I am also lactos intolerante.We are awaiting new result first test said he was..I am hoping it is wrong..They said his level was 100..I hope it isnt true but will have to except whatever it is...

Hi everyone, my daughter had her biopsy on tuesday as she had a postive blood test for coeliac, and the biopsy came back negative.
What a relief, she has cystic fibrosis so we had our fingers crossed it would be negative for coeliac. They are going to do the genetic test with her next bloods. My 16 year olds genetic test came back showing she had one of the coeliac genes and will be tested yearly. How did your son go did you have him retested? Cheers Karen
