My cat Peaches will not drink any water and because of this is having constipation issues. It is getting to the point that I might have to start giving her Sub Q fluids at home. I just don't have the stomach for that, anyway was wondering if anyone uses a water fountain. I don't know if she would use it but it's worth a shot.

Can anyone recommend a good one that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I have spent so much money going to the vet several times for the constipation problem. Vet gave her lactulose which by the way cost over $50.00 for 2 weeks worth. She is still having trouble going, she goes about every 3 days. Talk to vet again and she keeps telling me Peaches needs to drink more water but she won't drink any water. She gets watered down canned food twice a day and that is not enough water for her.

Sorry so long but I am getting frustrated and need to find a way to get Peaches to drink water.

My cat was constipated and the vet put her on Miralax which is a human laxative. I give her 1/8th teaspoon a night mixed in her food. I started, under dr's orders, with 1 teaspoon and she went and had a very runny bowel movement . So according to the vet I decreased it till she was down to the 1/8 teaspoon. Try this and see if it works. It's cheaper and I promise it won't hurt her it will help her. Lucy is now drinking and pooping and eating.

I think I will give that a try, it's got to be cheaper then the Lactulose I am paying for. I even have some so will give her some tonight with some food. Do I only give it to her once a day? Peaches wasn't feeling well so I took her in because I had a feeling her anal glands needed to be expressed and I was right. She usually has to have them expressed every 3 or 4 weeks.

turn a water faucet on for a few minutes...i have fond that cats LOVE running tap water. just an idea. hope the above advice helped too!

Angel I give Lucy her dose every night in her wet food. So whenever you feed her the wet food mix it with that. You will probable be able to cut it back to a1/4 or 1/8 teaspoon a day.
