Hi, I'm a real cat fan, I have 3 at home. The lady next door has a cat, 7 months old. She went out Friday morning, and now it's late Saturday night. I don't know when she's coming home. I've heard the cat meowing. I've tried breaking in, I've rung the police and the RSPCA. I get totally anxious and distressed when I think a cat is suffering. I was told by the policewoman this arvo that the cat is probably fine, and has food and water.
I made myself go out to an AA meeting, and kept calling my next door neighbour every 15 minutes. It's now after midnight, she's not home. I rang the police again tonight, they were more receptive, but they can't open the door for me at this stage.
The thing is, it's late at night, my next door neighbour will probably return early tomorrow - and in the meantime, I've got a stomach full of anxiety and distress. This is a case for the serenity prayer - accept the things we can't change. But I wish this situation was resolved.
I guess I want someone to say the cat will survive. I have to go to the police tomorrow at midday, if my next door neighbour isn't back, and fill out a missing person's report. Hopefully she'll be back early.
No one here knows the situation inside that home. When I was married, we would leave on Saturday morning to go to his mother's home and then return Sunday afternoon. My cat was an inside cat and had plenty of food, water and litter boxes and was always okay.
I'm hoping the neighbor is back by now and maybe you two can work out an arrangement so that she lets you know in the future when she's leaving and coming back and that will help. Take care and thanks for caring about the cat.
HI, my next door neighbour returned at 6.30am this morning. I am so relieved. We've had a chat, and she's going to leave me a spare key for next time she stays away. The cat is happy, I'm happy.
Glad everything worked out. Poor little kitten! make sure she knows that kittens can NOT be left home alone for more than a day. They need not only food but companionship.
The good news is that I got my next door neighbour to give me a key to her flat. Also, if she's going to go stay the night somewhere, she lets me know and I take kitty in. Kitty comes over every day for a few hours anyway, so he can chase my cats around!
This has worked out so well. It's like a kitty play date!!! I'm so glad you got involved with your neighbor.
Thank you so much for caring and thank you for keeping us updated because it really makes me smile when you posted to let us know the cat was okay, and then today to say the cat comes over each day and it's kitty play time!!!! This is so great!!!
