Just curious if anyone else here is a tech?
I'm a CVT and I since becoming a stay-at-home-mom 5 years ago, I have begun to miss working with animals (well, OK- my husband acts like a pig, and my son is more like a monkey- but that's besides the point!!!)
just a question? has anyone worked with dogs and know what can cause a dog to lose weight drasticly and lose his hair almost blind i think its parvo but not sure, my friend has a dog,and cant afford to get him help. so she just makes him comfortable. i think she should put him to sleep so he doesnt suffer. any thoughts? or advice.
It could be a multitude of things- a parasite comes to mind first, but without seeing the dog, I'm not sure. Most veterinary offices charge just a couple dollars if you take them a fecal sample. They can tas for intestinal parasites, and at least have that ruled out if nothing comes up.
As for parvo, she would need to get the dog into a vet as soon as possible.
Putting the dog to sleep should be a last resort.
I wish I had a good answer for you- hopefully someone else here might have a better suggestion...
Bunnyfig, Have your friend to see if there is a organization called Angels of Assisi in her area. They take care of animals at a reduced cost. They base it on your income. And they have an adoption network also.
I was just wondering because I am going back to work (hopefully, if I get this job tomorrow) and I'm nervous.
