I am leaving my very emotionally and physically abusive husband, and I need someone to take my cat, Bob. I don't want to give him to a shelter, because I will want to have him back in a few months when I get my own apartment. He is the only friend that my autistic son has, so I don't want to give him up permanently.
If there is anyone in the Northeast Ohio area that can foster my cat for 2-6 months, I am can pay about $50 a month to cover food and litter.
He gets along with other cats and is extremely gentle with small children (mine has autism and gets very rough with him, but Bob has never hurt him- and we've never heard him even hiss.) He is neutered, but not declawed.
If anyone can do this, or knows of any options for me, please let me know. I don't want to give up my cat permanently- I just need some help temporarily.
Can anyone help me? Please?
You might call your vet and ask if they might know someone who would foster for you. Many Humane Society shelters have a foster network. You might call and just check to see if they know someone who might do that for you. I'm so sorry that you can't take him with you. Are you going into a "safe house"? I'll be glad to keep him, but he probably doesn't want to fly to Arkansas, lo.
The very best of luck to you. Please be ever careful and watchful. Stay safe.
Sweetie, I am down in South Carolina, or I would help. Hmmm, is there any way to do a search on people living in a geographical area? Then you can look for cat lovers and send out some IM's and see what you come up with. Just go to the search option and go from there. Good luck...it sounds like you deserve some.
So sorry my friend I live in the uk, is there any cat sanctuarys that could board him? Is there any friends that can take him on? I wish I could help. Keep searching something will come up.
i would also help you in an instance. i agree with the other posters. check into your feline societies (look in the yellow pages) and the humane welfare agencies. Have you checked with the place you are going? perhaps they would agree to let you keep the kitty there? It is becoming more commonplace to let people keep their pets in that situation. I believe in my city, there are shelters that let you bring your pets, or at the very least, make arrangements for fostering. I wish you all of the luck in the world, and I am glad that you are leaving this horrific situation. What a brave person you are!!!
I'll be praying for you to find a place. I'm glad your getting out of the situation your in. I'd take him in a heartbeat, but don't live near. You will find a way. love from Ginnycat
maybe your son's Dr. can write a leter that BOB is a therapy cat and that will help with allowing him to come with you to your new living quarters, there are laws for therapy animals similar to the seeing eye dogs being allowed to go with their masters. It can't hurt and might help you keep your lovely family together.
Good luck
I will be placing him with a foster family, and they will keep him until I can get on my feet. The reason I can't take him with me is because I am going to be moving in with my parents and my dad is very allergic to cats. Otherwise, I would be able to take him with me.
Glad you have managed to find someone that will foster him for you.
Your very brave making that move to get out of that situation
