Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Support Group

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a medical condition in which the median nerve is compressed at the wrist causing symptoms like tingling, numbness, night time wakening, pain, coldness, and sometimes weakness in parts of the hand. CTS is more common in women than it is in men, and has a peak incidence around age 50 (though it can occur in any adult).

I'm so excited! I get my wrist fixed on the 10th of February. I haven't had a full night's sleep in weeks. Waking several times a night crying with the pain. It takes a LOT for me to cry. I have a very high pain tolerance. Guess more than 36 years of using a 10-key has taken it's toll.

so far so good i guess. less pain than what was waking me up at night. stitches out and cast off the 25th.

Was surgery painful?
Have you (or anyone else) tried Trigosamine?

SweetLou, the surgery itself was not painful at all. The day after I did take a few pain pills. Was back to work full time on Thursday. Took 2 pain pills yesterday(Thursday)
and none so far today. :-) That's with signing checks, contracts and drafts all day and doing data entry! I'm so happy!!!!!!!
Have not tried Trigosomine, sorry.

get my surgery on march 17th! bit scared, esp about the loss of grip etc afterwards but cannot wait to (hopefully) be pain free or at least close!

Skate, I wouldn't worry. My surgery was called a "release" not a "repair". Meaning I guess that no tendons or ligaments had to be repaired in addition to providing a release for the swollen tendons and ligament that could no longer move through the carpal tunnel as they should. Even while the cast was on I used my fingers. Once the cast was off and the stitches out I was surprised at how much I could do! I went to therapy the morning after the cast came off and she did all the measurements, etc. Even then I could give a pretty good accounting with the right hand. Yes, I'm a righty. It's been 21 days since the surgery and I can do anything except put my full weight (130 lbs) on my fingertips or the pad of my hand. This weekend I'm going to garden!!!!
