Sorry Sun, can't help you with this one. I can understand your frustration though, I wouldn't even attempt a ride these days. Is it worth speaking to suppliers/manufacturers to see if there is any sort of modification you can get?

I've worked for a year with a motorcycle shop here locally. Tried what's called a cramp buster. Didn't help and got in my way (would roll the throttle accidentally!).
I have yet to try a thumb throttle. Sounds kinda tricky and it's my thumb that goes numb first anyway. The owner doesn't recomment it, but is willing to put it on if I want him to.
Rode yesterday. 50 miles round trip with a couple hours of swimming in the middle. It was nice, but I'm never going to be able to ride with anyone at this pace. lol! Would take me 3 days to get to Eureka Springs! hehe! (normally a 2 1/2 hour car trip or a 4 hour bike trip to take advantage of all the twisties all around there)

I actually went to get my permit over the summer, got a bike and rode it and knew immediatly I would not be able to. That is when I noticed I had carpel tunnel in my left hand. I had already had the release surgery on the right one. I couldn't use the shifter well and was in pain only short distances and numbness. So I ended up selling the bike. I think I will have to try maybe a scooter.

My fiance bought a motorcycle 2 years ago,and is now talking about selling it due to the carpal tunnel he has.He hardly rode it at all(just short distances)because his hands would hurt or go numb.He also would shake it out,but it would come right back.

Yes, shaking it out lasts a shorter amount of time each time you do it. I took my bike (yes, I finally got it back on april 3rd) for a very short ride the other night. Couldn't really tell much difference after the surgery yet. Dr says I'll be back at 100% by June 10th. Told him it's been so long I don't know what 100% IS! Anyway, went fishing last Saturday and suddenly noticed that I wasn't having any problems with the usual numbness and pain!!! Yay! I think that is a good indication that I'll be able to ride for more than 20 miles at a time!!!!! Can't wait. Haven't ridden in almost a year so I'm going to go slow and gradually build up distance.

Sunflur, I have been doing a search for the same thing today. I also have the pain and numbness, only mine is in my clutch hand. From what I have found out this morning on the Kawasaki Ninja Forum, you can adjust your leavers to reduce the angle and pressure on your wrists. If you loosen your leavers and rotate them to the point where your wrists are not bent or contorted, then obviously re-tighten them, it might help. Also, if your leavers are already comfortable, you might want to switch to a thicker, softer (foam) hand grips. Good luck, hope this helps for your sake and mine.

I have had the levers adjusted and have tried them them in all possible angles. Also had the handlebars adjusted multiple times. The doctors tell me that the vibration has a lot to do with it. I do know that the more time you spend in a lower gear, the quicker you start to tingle, go numb and hurt. I bought thick foam grips. Couldn't get the ex to put them on for me. I tried myself but couldn't do it.

Toolfan, try adjusting the angle of your handlebars as well. I can't imagine having that problem with my clutch hand! You need to be able to feel what you're doing there! At least with it being my right I would usually have some feeling in the little finger! And while 70% of your braking is supplied by the front brake, you do have that back brake to rely on!

I'm sure hoping that if it ever quits raining around here and I take my baby out on the weekend for a long ride I will be so pleasantly surprised by my new wrist!!!!

My wife is fighting this problem on both hands. We have tried Kuryakyn Isogrips (which help somewhat), a throttle-rocker (similar to Cramp-Buster), and a throttle lock (aka cruise control). All help a bit, but have not been the solution.

We ordered a Bar Snake (barsnake.com) which is supposed to dampen the vibrations, but have not installed it, yet, because we are also considering changing the bars. We contacted a local dealer who recommended changing out her bars so her hands are in a natural positon when riding. Currently, the bars point down and in too far for her, so her wrists are slightly twisted when riding. Hopefully will know in a month or so if any of this helps.

By the way, if you want a throttle lock that is a bit safer, look into Brakeaway which disconnects when you apply the front brake (brakeawayproducts.com/).
