This is good news. My father bought his first laptop at 80 and was learning it ok. His memory is going so I had to do a lot of re teaching of the same stuff. Them my younger sister told him she had no computer and asked could buy my fathers laptop. She took it and never paid him a penny for it and that was the end of his computer experience

I can relate, I feel like all I do is help my dad and that I'm alone in it... it's a tough place to be!

that was clever peaceful i was talking last night to my sister on the phone saying it would be a good thing to get mom a ipad and all she has to do is use her finger to point and use. she needs something to do to since she is homebound and the tv watching is just not keeping her interest anymore she use to love to play slot machines hearing the bells ringing maybe we could introduce to her this new item for her interest.

as far as being alone i know what you mean when i was taking care of my father i too was alone and nobody called to speak to my father or even called me to find out how dad was doing it was so upsetting to me that i felt no one cared enough to at least call and let my dad know that he was loved and someone was thinking about him it was a difficult time and alot of frustration and disappointed in all of them i lost respect for them because of that since i am the youngest it was worse because i always thought as growing up i could count on my siblings for help but that was never to be instead i had to be the strong one during the whole process even though i shock with fear inside my whole being but i kept going and i am glad that i did after my father died. now i am going through it with my mom but somehow it seems not as fearful suppose its because i have walked this road before with my father i just don't know but i do find myself more calmer in situations that i encounter with my mother as i have already walked this road before. god bless..................

What a great idea. My parents have computers but they don't have cameras or mics. Also not sure that mom could manage without messing it up.

In my case everyone calls mom...probably too much since she is getting confused between what doctors are saying and what others are "diagnosing" on their own.

Computers are great for these kings of things.

It is not always easy w computer but it got better with meds. Mom responded well enough to have better focus for learning a different windows format.
And she has a kindle for her books. I send them and she enjoys what I pick so far. She can enlarge to see and this was such a pleasure to her.
