Another situation I can't do anything about. Person that worked at fathers office cleaned a car on property with something that hurt his skin. Mom never told him to use the item he used on car. This is explanation from Mom. He keeps calling her and threatening to sue her. She complains to my fathers former business partner. But doest want him to do what he can to stop the calls and threats. I know she is afraid of what might happen. Her anxiety disorder and negativity causes that. The former partner doesnt want mom to be upset with him. And is very reluctant to do anything Mom says she doesnt want him to do. I've tried to tell him in the past to ignore Mom and do what you have to. That she is irrational with her fears. But he doesnt want to go against Moms wishes. She is paying him to run the property and deal with everything. I cant fire him and hire a stranger. Also, I dont know if a stranger would do what I want and not what Mom wants since she would be paying him. Plus it would probability be a lot more expencive to hire a stranger. Mom wouldn't pay more and I am not going to pay.
CALL A LAWYER ON YOUR OWN TIME! You do not need to tell your mother about this. But DO IT!

I do know that it makes a huge difference if you hire somebody to "do as directed" versus if they are hired to "use your skills and get the job done properly".
This is a prime example of the case where you need to do what is right, not what your mother wants.

And, if your mom is getting all these calls, block his number, send a letter referring him to the lawyer, and say you will get a restraining order. all of that, the lawyer can write up.
Older folks are constantly getting scammed. Fake IRS, your grandkid is in jail in Mexico, all sorts of crazy things (my aunt, now passed, got tons of them)
This is a real risk to their sanity and financials to allow older folks to be exposed to bad, bad people.
Is this person who injured himself on the business property an actual employee of the company or is he a sub-contractor of some type?
Pepper is right, you need legal advice on next steps "in case" this person decides to sue the company. No one has to pay anything and you either seek counsel to have this person stop the harrassment calls or you file a restraining order against this person. People sue for all kinds of ridiculous reasons but if there's a contract in place with this person that depicts specifics of what he was hired to do then there's no lawsuit to go ahead with. The person can try but it's not going to go very far. And, again, only a licensed attorney familiar with this type of laws would be qualified to give you advice on next steps to protect anyone involved with the business.
