Caring for aging parents can be a difficul time as we become the caretakers for our parents. It was a nice day here, so I decided to take mom out for a walk.
Of course I was pushing her in the wheelchair (that issue is finally settled in family) around the facility that she is living in.
We got about halfway around then mom said "I think that my knees are tired from walking". I told her that we were about halfway round. She said that it was a long way to walk but hopefully she would make it.
It was a hot,muggy day, and I have arthritic knees so "my knees" were sore.
Maybe it was a case of the transference that therapists like to talk about.
Whole thing did make me chuckle.

I have spent so much time worrying over every little thing to do with mom.
At least we had a nice walk and she enjoyed getting out into the sunshine. She was happy.
Mom is pretty well full-time, in a wheelchair now. Mom is so timid (and has always been timid, about pretty well everything) that only the aides can do any kind of transfer for her anymore.
My brother has commented that mom says that she has been doing a lot of walking lately. Walking to the bus, walking downtown and things like
Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I had no idea that she might be having so much discomfort to her.
Appreciate it.
Just to give you an update, I mentioned that mom was having problems and they put in her permanent record book (at her long-term care facility) that everyday they are supposed to exercise her legs. Mostly by doing leg lifts where her legs bend at the knees.
Hopefully that should make things some better for her.

I can't say for certain that mom is actually complaining about something real. Just wanted to offer my personal experience. You please feel free to take what you need and leave the rest alone.
